My first visit to Oregon as an adult was in the summer of 1969. I was captivated by the majestic mountains, scenic beaches and lush forests. Except for the two years I lived in Montana (another beautiful state), I have lived in Oregon since the fall of 1970. Every chance we get, my husband Dave and I hop in the truck and head for places we haven't been before.

• Take an interesting side trip along the Metolius River to visit the fish hatchery at Wizard Falls.
• Feel the rush of crashing waves, hike to a lighthouse, visit one of Oregon�s covered bridges, or enjoy scenic areas including Devil's Churn, Cook's Chasm, Spouting Horn, and Cape Perpetua Overlook, the highest point on the Oregon Coast with a fabulous panoramic ocean view. All these activities and many more are yours when you visit Yachats,a tiny oceanfront resort village. Our favorite Yachats lodging is the Fireside Motel.
• Enjoy the scenic Rouge River in a jet boat.
• View eagles, pelicans, terns, and many more bird species and other wildlife at Klamath Basin.
• Marvel at the beauty of the McKenzie River.
• Experience a little bit of Switzerland right here in Oregon when you visit Joseph and Wallowa Lake.
