Amateur Article: Pierce Till Your Ugly!!

Discrimination is defined as an act or instance of making a distinction in favor or against a person based on the tendancy or inclination of which a person belongs, rather than based on merit.
Suspending a person based on outward apperance is discrimination. Basic High School makes it clear that they are against discrimination. If basic is against discrimination, then how come they are telling students that having a facial piercing will get them a suspension. They are telling students that looking the way they do is wrong. Some students at basic agree with the fact that the school should not be able tell us if we can or cant have facial piercings at school.
Carolynn Hamm States, " It's against everything they taught us about being ourself. One of my friends had to quit school because he kept getting suspended from school for it." ?
When asking a few other students what they thought this is what they had to say!!
Katie days said, "I feel that if the student's parents feel it is okay to have those piercings then the school should accept them. Those that feel it's a distraction need to learn how to focus because it's a personal challenge and no one else is responsible for {being distracted by facial piercings.} Lauren Day, Katie Day's younger sister, and our new student body president states, " I think I can understand where they're {the school} coming from, but it's a person's own decision weather the do it{pierce their face.} So why does it matter {if they have facial puercings} at school or not?"
Not all students took sides on this issue. Curtis Udall a freshman at basic stated, "I don't care." As I laughed he finshed it off with, "I don't!!" Or like Kasey Campbell, "I think it could be distracting. One piercing is alright."
Even the teachers had some say on this issue. Mrs. Yakubik commented, " I agree with the dress code policy. I think they should enforce it, but piercings, I don't think piercings should be apart of it." Mr. Bailey, a health teacher at Basic, Commented," I've never been for facial piercings because of the risks that are involved, but if it's not interfering with the students ability to do his/her work, or not disrupting the learning enviroment, then pierce till your ugly!!
