| ALPENA - Leonard J Stickney, 74, of 514 S Fifth Ave., Alpena, died Monday morning at Flint's Hurley Hospital. Born April 4 1912, in Marquette, he was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in alpena and was a career non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Army as a recruiter until his retirement in 1965. He then decame district supervisor for the district Civil Service system, which included the Upper Peninsula. He retired from that position in 1974 Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; two daughters, Mrs. Phillip (Emily) Ross of Indianapolis and Mrs. Joseph (Mary Beth) Greene of Caro; three sons, John of Sulphur, La., Howard of Flint and Leanard Jr. of Augtin, Texas; and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services were at noon today at Alpena's St. Bernard Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Greene officiating. Burial was set for Alpena's Holy Cross Cemetery> Memorial donations can be made to the Northern Michigan University scholarship fund. |
