COUNTY PIONEER TAKEN BY DEATH
John Stickney, Sr., Seventy-seven Years Old, Passes
John Stickney, Sr., seventy-seven years of age, for 18 years a resident of Marquette died at 7 o'clock yesterday morning in the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. J. Henne, 117 West Ridge St., with whom he had made his home for the last year.
  Mr. Stickney was born in Adenan, Coblenz District, Germany, April 5, 1847, and came to the United States when two years of age with his parents who settled in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.  At the age of 14, his parents moved to Forestville, in Marquette County.  Mr. Stickney lived there until his marriage, in 1868, to Elizabeth McGinnis, and he and his bride moved to Eagle Mills where they resided for 35 years.  In 1903 Mr. and Mrs. Stickney moved to Ishpeming, where they lived three years, then moving to Marquette.
  The greater part of his life was agent in the lumber industry, in connection with F.W. Read and Company, in Eagle Mills, and Consolidated Fuel and Lumber Co. in Marquette and Ishpeming.  Mr. Stickney was superviser frrom Negaunee Township for 2 terms, and also a member of the county board of supervisers at the time that the court house was erected.
  Mr. Stickney had made his home with his daughter since the death of his wife, a year age.  In November, 1918, Mr. and Mrs. Stickney celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, and held a family reunion, which all members of the family except two sons attended.
  The deceased was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Macaabees, and the Holy Name Society.  He leaves eight sons, John, Frank, and Ceibert of Marquette; James and Oral of Virginia, Minnesota; Arthur of Hibbing, Minnesota; and Joseph and Harold, of Oakland, Cal and two daughters, Mrs A.J. Henne, of Marquette, and Mrs Edward Dobbs, of Negaunee.
  Funeral services will be held at 8:30 Saturday morning from St Peter's Cathedral with internment in Holy Cross Cemetery.

            Funeral services this morning.
The funeral of the late John Stickney Sr. will be held this morning at 8:30 o'clock from St Peter's Cathedral with internment in Holy Cross Cemetery.  Mr Stickney's six sins John, Frank, Ceibert, Arthur, James and Oral will be pallbearers.  They were pallbearers about a year ago at their mother's funeral.
