John Stickney Jr.
John Stickney Died Yesterday.  Lived here 20 years, on Co. Board 13 Years
Late yesterday afternoon, in his home, at 323 W Crescent St. John Stickney, age 54, was taken by death.  Mr. Stickney had been in ill health for a year and a half and during the last few months he has been failing steadily.  His condition had been serious during the last week and his death was not unexpected.
  Mr. Stickney, who had been employed by the Consolidated Fuel and Lumber Co. since its organization in 1902, was a salesman and yard master for the company in Marquette and lived in this city twenty years.
           Superviser 13 Years
  He was one of the city's most progressive and public spirited citizens and had served as superviser from the 5th precinct about thirteen years.  He was an influential and able worker on the county board, being chairman of its committee on highways and bridges and a member of its equalization, hospital, and auditing committees.  As superviser he served as a member of the Marquette board of review, which annually determines tax assestment valuations on real and personal property in the city.
  During the World War Mr. Stickney took an active part in conductiog Red Cross Drives and other campaigns for war funds.  He had many scored of friends in Marquette who held him in high esteem and he had a wide acqaintance in the county.  He was born in Forestville and had lived in the county all his life.  His father, one of the oldest proneers of the county, died last year.
            Worked at Eagle Mills
  John Stickney's first employment was in Reed and Company's sawmill in Eagle Mills.  He began work there when he was a boy and remained there until 1902, when he took his first position with the Consolidated Fuel and Lumber Company.
  He is survived by his wife, two sons Howard and Leonard, four daughters, Mrs. M. A. June, Lenore, Jeanetta and Mary, six brothers and two sisters.
  The brothers are James of Virginia, Minn; Arthur of Hibbing, Minn; Frank, and Ceibert of Marquette; Joseph of Oakland, Cal; and Oral, of Virginia.  The sisters are Mrs, Edward Dobbs, of Negaunee, and Mrs. Arthur Henne, of Marquette.
  Mr Stickney was a member of Marquette Council, Knights of Columbus, and of the Holy Name Society of St. Peter's cathedral.
  Funeral arrangements will be announced tomorrow.

  Funeral Saturday--Funeral services for the late John Stickney were held Saturday morning at 8:30 in St. Peter's Cathedral with internment in Holy Cross cemetery.  The pallbearers were Frank Frel, E.F. Kennedy, Wm. J. Wiseman, Phil Hopkins, John Johnson, and Mark Ferguson.
