| JAMES STICKNEY PASSES AT HOME James Stickney, age 62, a pioneer resident and former fire chief of Virginia, died this morning at 7 o'clock at his home, 331Ninth St So. Death followed an illness of several months duration. Mr. Stickney was well known in Virginia, having made his home here for the past 33 years. He was appointed fire chief in 1913 and quitted that position in September, 1924. He was a fourth degree member in Virginia Council No 1640, Knights Of Columbus and a member of Iron Range Lodge No 117, Loyal Order of Moose. In addition to his widow, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Alice Nelson of Virginia and Mrs. Mitchell McNeil and Edith Stickney, both of Los Angeles; six sons, Roland, Maurice, Fred and Donald, all of Virginia, Bernard of Pontiac, Mich., and Lawrence of Los Angeles. Other survivors include: four brothers, Earl of Virginia, Frank of Marquette, Mich., Joseph of Alameda, Calif., and Arthur of LaSalle, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Arthur Genne of Marquette; an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs.Maurice McGinnis of Superior and another aunt, Mrs. Sarah Bonnerof Kankakee, Ill. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at eight o'clock at the Graham Funeral Home and at 8:30 o'clock at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic church. The Rev. Father E.J. Welsh will officiate. Interment will be in Calvary cemetery. |
