| VIRGINIA----- Mass of Christian Burial for Donald V, "Uncle Don" Stickney, 74, of Virginia, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Virginia. The Rev. Lloyd Mudrak will be the celebrant. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday with an 8:30 p.m.prayer service at the Bauman Family of Funeral Homes, Bauman-Cron Chapel of Virginia.Burial with full military accorded by the Pratt-Volden American Legion Post 239 will be in the veterans section of the Greenwood Cemetery in Virginia. Mr. Stickney died Sunday, May 14, 1995, at the Virginia Convalescent Center. He was born March 24, 1921, the son of former Fire Chief James and Hattie (Beaulieu) Stickney. He was a 1938 graduate of Virginia Roosevelt High School. He married Elizabeth Steele on Jan 6, 1946, in Astoria, Ore. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps prior to his employment in the oil fields in California. He was U.S. Navy veteran of WorldWar II, where he served as a torpedo bomber crewman in the Pacific Theater. He was employed as a florist in Astoria for a number of years, and returned to Virginia in 1953, where he was employed as a driver/ salesman for Mckenzie Welding and for General Trading Co. He was a member and officer of the United Commercial Travelers, a member of the Clatsop American Legion Post 12 of Astoria and its Drum and Bugle Corps, a member and past governer for the Minnesota Loyal Order of the Moose. He is survived by two daughters, Susan (Stanley J.) Muster of Marshall, Mich., and Sharon L. Weiss of Marietta, Ga., a son, Michael D. (Linda) Stickney of Maroa, Ill; a sister, Edith (Glen) Pearce of Rosemead, Calif; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend Joyce Lahtl of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Adrian, Bernard, Roland, Maurice, Lawrence, and Frederick; two sisters, Alice LaLonde, and Natalie Williams; and an infant daughter. |
