| CHAMPION - Funeral serviced for Charles A Saari will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home of Ishpeming, with the Rev. Daniel Knock officiating. Burial will be in Champion Cemetery. Mr. Saari, 80, of Route 1, Champion, died Tuesday night at Marquette General Hospital, where he was a patient for two days. Born July 4, 1907, in Champion, he was a lifelong area resident. He was employed by Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Co. as a truck driver until retiring in 1969. Surviving are his wife, Bertha; five sons, Kenneth, Richard, Fred and James, all of Ishpeming, and Charles of Michigamme; three daughters, Mrs. Sam (Janet) Watters of Ishpeming, and Barbara McCormick and Mrs. David (Carol) Mattice, both of Negaunee; a brother, Alfred of Champion; a sister Emma Johnson of Traverse City; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends can call at the funeral home from 5 to 9 tonight and an hour before services Friday. |
