| CHAMPION - Alfred J. Saari, 84, of Route 1, Box 13, Champion, died Monday afternoon, Sept 4 1995 at the Norlite Nursing Center in Marquette. He'd been a patient for six weeks. Mr. Saari was born Sept 30, 1910 in Champion to the late Richard and Wilhelmina (Huhtala) Saari. He was a lifelong area resident and was self-employed as a logger for most of his life. Surviving are two daughters, Geraldine (Charles) Keranen of Ishpeming and Jenny (Don) Maki of Negaunee; a son Alfred "Rick" (Lynn) Saari of L'Anse; a sister, Emma Johnson of Traverse City; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel, in 1994. Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home in Ishpeming with the Rev. Michael Carriere to officiate. Burial will be in the Champion Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. Wednesday until the time of services. Pallbearers will be Michael, Daniel and Jason Keranen, and Mark and Matthew Maki. |
