| MICHIGAMME - Alfred L "Bunny" Plattenberg, 79, a former Michigamme resident, died Saturday evening, Feb 18, 1995, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, Ishpeming. He had been a patient since August. Born June 27, 1915, in Champion, to the late John and Mae (Dishnow) Plattenberg, he was a lifefong resident of the area and worked for the Cleveland Cliffs Mining Co. in the Mather B and Humboldt mines for 27 years, retiring in 1977. Survivors include four sons, Norman (Carol) of Huston, Harold (Esther) of Negaunee, Gerald (Carolyn) of Humboldt and Harland of Elko, Nev,; a daughter, Karen Plattenberg of Michigamme; a brother Harold (Betty) Hamel of Champion; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his wife, Ruth; a son, Duane; two sisters; and seven brothers. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home, Ishpeming, and one hour prior to services, which will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Sisters Margey Schmelzle and Charlotte Ann Wagner will officiate. Pallbearers will be Duane, Harold Jr., David, Gerald Jr. and Todd Plattenberg. and Robert, Chad and Bradley Swanson, all grandsons. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery Michigamme. |
