| We are called upon this week to chronicle the death of Mrs. Mackey, who died at her residence in this village Saturday, Jan 12. The had been in delicate health for a number of years, and for several months past has been failing rapidly, and her death was not unexpected. Mrs. Mackey was a widow and had lived in this village for quite a number of years, coming here with her husband and family furing the period the Newberry Furnance was in operation. Mr. Mackey was foundryman at the furnance and was accidentally killed by the bursting of a steam pipe four years ago. Mrs. Mackey was of a quiet and retiring disposition and was very highly regarded by her circle of acquaintances. She leaves a large family of grown up sons and daughters to morn her demise. The remains were taken to Marquette Monday where the funeral and burial took place, being conducted by the priest of the Catholic church of whick church Mrs. Mackey was a devout member. The labors of another are ended, called home to enjoy eternal blessedness. |
