| LAKE MICHIGAMME - Ellen E. Hyry, age 85, former Lake Michigamme resident died Thursday, December 4, 1997 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming. Ellen was born January 15, 1912 in Champion to the late Oke & Katie (Heilala) Saari. She was a graduate of the Champion High School, Class of 1928. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Champion, where she enjoyed singing along with at her at her home. She loved gardening, cooking, baking along with knitting & Crocheting, especially snowflakes. Ellen was also active in the senior meals program. Her daughters will remember her as a wonderful mother. Survivors include 3 daughters, June (Arne) Eliason & Judith (Donald) Hamari both of Michigamme and Jewel (Douglas) Duhame of Ishpeming; 3 sisters, Sylvia LaCosse of Ishpeming, Ruth Lundgren of Colleyville, Tx and Julianne (Wallace) LaMere of Champion; a daughter-in-law, Pat Hyry of AuTrain; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Eino on Dec 5 1994; a son Francis; two infant sons, and two brothers, Leonard & Walter Saari. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 1997 at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Timothy Bernard ot officiate. Inurnment will be in the Champion Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the service in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. The Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. |
