| PALMER - Elsie M. Herrala, 87, 401 Nicholas Ave., Palmer died at 10:15 PM on Friday April 27, 2001 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility where she had been a patient for 2 years. Mrs. Herrala was born Nov. 18, 1913 in Princeton to Gust & Sanna (Laukkonen) Annala and was a lifelong area resident. Before her retirement she worked for many years as a cook at the Palmer Nursing Home and she was a homemaker. Elsie was a member of Hope Free Lutheran Church, Ishpeming. She loved cooking, baking and enjoyed shopping. Surviving are one son, Walter (Susan) Herrala, Warren, Mi., one daughter, Leila LaPin, Plainview, TX, 8 grandchildren: Crystal Franklin, Gail (Jim) Martin LaPin, Vicki, (Brent) Rose, Yvette (Dale) Hobbs, Val (Susie) LaPin, Lori (Mark) Sheppard, Kevin (Wendy) Herrala, Tammy Herrala, 10 great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Bertha Saari, Negaunee, Ruth Suobank, Rogers, Arkansas, several niece & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Toivo Herrala in 1984. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday at Hope Free Lutheran Church, Ishpeming with Rev. Michael Burke officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. Friends may call at the Koskey Funeral Home from 5-8 PM today (Monday). |
