Joseph Hamel
LAKE MICHIGAMME - Joseph C Hamel, 72, of HCR 1 Box 2102, Lake Michigamme died Wednesday, Sept 15, 1993 at Bell Memorial Hospital where he'd been a patient for one day.
  Born Sept. 13 1921 in Champion to the late Joseph and Mae Hamel, he was a lifelong area resident, witnering in Florida since his retirement in 1976.  Mr. Halem owned and operated Hamel Construction, selling Wausau Homes for 11 years.  He was also owner and operator of the Ace Hardware Store in Ishpeming Township.
  He was a member of the Thomas P Johnston American Legion Post 222 in Florida and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion.
  Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Lois of Lake Michigamme; a brother, Harold Hamel of Champion; a stepsister, Mrs. Eva "Margaret" Rochon of Ishpeming;  a stepbrother, Harold Plattenberg of Ishpeming, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother, two stepsisters and three stepbrothers.
  Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Champion with the Rev. J. Keith Symons, bishop of the Palm Beach, Fla. Diocese to officate.  Burial will be in the Champion Cemetery.
  Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday where a wake service will be held at 7 p.m.  Visitation will also be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
  Pallbearers will be Mark, Jeff and John Hamel, Art Hamel Jr., Art Benson and Joseph Roose.  Memorial donations may be made to the Senior citizens of Michigamme.
