Wilfred G. Dompierre
  NEGAUNEE - Wilfred G. Dompierre 64, 213 Croix St., Negaunee died at 9:51 a.m. Monday Jan 12 1988 at the Bell Memorial Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack.
   Mr. Dompierre was born May 4, 1933 in Negaunee to George & Irene (Dower) Dompierre and was a life long Negaunee resident and was a graduate of Negqunee High School, Class of 1952.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, having served on the USS Navy Jersey.  He also attended Northern Michigan University.  An employee of the US Postal Service for 35 years, his duties included the following positions, carrier & clerk in Negaunee, supervisor at Iron Mountain and postmaster in Michigamme, the position from which he retired in 1988.  Following his retirement from the Postal Service he drove bus for the Negaunee Public Schools.
   Wilfred was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and served as the Church treasurer for over 30 years.  He was one of the founding members of the Ishpeming-Negaunee Big Brothers and was a past treasurer.  He served on the Negaunee City Council for 2 terms and was a past Mayor of the city.  He served on the Marquette County Commission on Aging & was a former member of the Negaunee Booster Club.
   Surviving are his wife, Gladys, 2 daughters; Heather (Pat) Fulsher, Gladstone, Donna (Mike) Dubord, Ishpeming, 2 sons; Peter (Robin) Dompierre, Negaunee, John Dompierre, Lukes A.F.B. AZ, 13 grandchildren; Tara, Kelly & Cory Fulsher, Michelle, Patricia, Carrie Dubord, Wendy & Penny Tuttila, Seth, Sierra, Caresse, Amber & John Dompierre, 3 sisters; Lorna Hiller, Alice (Marvin) Lummukka, & Darla Dompierre, all of Negaunee, a niece Beth Hiller, a nephew Greg Lummukka, & several other nieces, nephews & cousins.
   Funer services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. John's Episcopal Church, Negaunee with Rev. Virginia Peacock officiating.  Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be, John & Richard Marietti, Don Price, Wayne Young, Glenn Binoniemi, & Ken Huber.
   Friends may call at the Koskey Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Friday.
