| L'ANSE - Joseph Dompier, 63, of L'Anse died Wednesday at the Baraga County Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was born May 13, 1929 in Baraga, the son of Wilfred and Selma (Alatalo) Dompier. He grew up in L'Anse and graduated from L'Anse High School in 1947 and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. On Aug 8 1953 he married Margaret Anderson in Baraga. At the time of his death, he was general manager of Pettibone Corp. of Baraga, having worked there for 38 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of L'Anse, the L'Anse Golf Club and the L'Anse Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife; his mother, Selma Dompier of Baraga; two sons; David of Baraga and Jay of L'Anse; five daughters, Denise Giddings of Baraga, Diane Dompier of L'Anse, Vicki Sanregret and Lori Rehn, both of L'Anse and Tami Larson of Aura; severn brothers, Norman of Gaylord, Ray, Pat, Richard, Jerry and Jim all of Baraga, and Douglas of Vancouver, Wash.; a sister Mary LaJoye of Hastings; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces nephews and cousins. A mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in L'Anse with the Rev. Guy Thoren to officiate. Burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Jacobson Funeral Home of L'anse from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. and military rights at 8 p.m. |
