| EVELETH----Mass of Christian Burial for George A. Dobbs, 77, formerly of Leonnidas, will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Ressurection Catholic Church in Eveleth. The Rev. Jerry Weiss will be celebrant. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday with parish prayer Sat 6:30 p.m. with the Knights of Columbus in attendance at the Cron- Sheehy Eveleth Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Eveleth Cemetery. Mr. Dobbs died Thursday, Feb. 23, 1988, at the Virginia Convalescent Center. He was born Dec. 7, 1911, at Ishpeming, Mich. He attended Eveleth schools and Eveleth Junior College and lived most of his life in Leonidas. On July 19, 1941, he married Mary Jane Stickney. He had been a clerk for the Hanna Mining Co., retiring after 40 years of service. He was a member of Ressurection Catholic church and the Frank A. Macinia Council 2583 Knights of Columbus of Eveleth. He was a life long member of the Virginia Mens Bowling Association, he was city clerk for 20 years and Leonidas mayor for five years. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia (Anthony) Jensen of San Antonio, Texas, and Jane (Dennis) Palokangas of Eveleth, one son, Michael (Pamela) Dobbs of Kingston, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; two brothers, William (Diane) of Eveleth, andJohn (June) of Quartz Hill, Calif.; six sisters, Germaine Pogachnik, Lucille (Walter) Makynen, and Geraldine (Anton)Burja, all of Eveleth, Marie Skul of Leonidas, Elaine Turk of SanDiego, Calif., and Flora Giovannnnini of LaGrange, Texas; numerous neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane July 14, 1983,and three brothers, Truman, Norbert, and Louis. |
