| This section is about BESM. BESM stands for "Big Eyes, Small Mouth". It is, quite simply, an anime Role-Playing Game (RPG). Now don't go rushing to the nearest electronics store to purchase your very own game, you only wish you were that lucky. BESM is a Tabletop RPG, which means it's done with books, pencils, paper, and lots of patience. This section should guide you through the basics of how to play. If you don't want to spend the time and paper printing this stuff off, you can find BESM at your local hobby store or comics and cards shop for a mere $29.95. |

| Character Creation Everyone starts with a set number of Character Points (CP) and Skill Points (SP) determined by the Game Master (GM). Throughout the game, character's earn more CP and SP to become stronger. These points are used only on your derived Stat values and your Attributes. Derived Stat Values Each character has three derived stat values: Body, Mind, and Soul Players begin their character creation by designating numbers to these Stat values, using CP for each amount used. The number of points you may have assigned to one stat goes from one to twelve. Human average is four. GM's may create an absolute floor or ceiling to which you can assign points. this is used to level the playing field in an adventure. Health Points, Energy Points, Shock Value Health Points are how many points of damage a character can take before dying. This are figured like this: Body + Soul x 5 = Health Points Energy Points are used with magical and energy attacks. This are figured like this: Mind + Soul x 5 = Energy Points Shock Value is used in battle. When you take damage at one time equal or greater than your Shock Value, you must skip your next attack turn. This is figured like this: Health Points / 5 = Shock Value Combat Value (Attack and Defense) Combat Value is simply how well you fight. This is figured by averaging your derived values (Body, Mind, and Soul). Attack Combat Value (ACV) is the average. Defense Combat Value (DCV) is the average minus two. Example: Body- 5 Mind- 5 Soul- 5 ACV- 5 (5 + 5 + 5 = 15 / 3 = 5) DCV- 3 (5 - 2 = 3) It's that simple. To successfully attack, you must roll under your ACV with two six sided die (d6). The damage you give is the number of your ACV (not including attribute bonuses and weapons...but we'll get into that later). You defend in the exact same way that you attack. But when you successfully defend, not damage to you is taken (not including bonuses...once again, later...). Attributes and Skills There are many, MANY different attributes in BESM. These are assigned using your available CP. All attributes have a certain CP cost per level of power. You choose the level of power wanted. You may think this is great, but you use your CP when you do this. When CP are gone, you cannot add anymore attributes, get it? Good. Here is a list of the attributes. You obtain skills in the same way that you obtain attribute, but they are used differently. Skills allow character individuality and story flexibility. Someone can have the skill cooking and it makes the difference between a gourmet meal and burnt Ramen noodles. It just makes the game fun. Skills provide negative bonuses (You must roll under a number in this game so a negative bonus is a good thing, right? Right.). There are also Combat Skills that provide similar bonuses to rolls to make you a better fighter. Here is a list of the skills. Skills also have specializations, narrowing down a character's abilities to a single field. These are the skill bonuses: Level w/ specialization w/o specialization 1 -2 -1 2 -3 -2 3 -4 -3 4 -5 -4 5 -6 -5 6 -7 -6 |
