Just Another Day

The gas is filled, the pump is primed,
My work here soon will commence.
I need to get this out-ta here,
Without running through the fence!

I climbed aboard The Clatter Brain
And dawned my ear protection.
The engine started instantly,
Not filing one rejection!

I turned the key to hear her run
Whoosh, whoosh, putt, putt, clank, clank, hum.
I pulled the lever to my right
Which had nearly squished my thumb.

Chaos increased with heightened pitch
Then ended with jet like roar.
It coughed, than suddenly shuddered,
When the pedal hit the floor.

But all was not so finely tuned,
For there came another sound.
The drive belt whizzed right past my ear,
And landed there on the ground!

Parts were flying both left and right
As it grinded to a halt
I knew this ran the last I tried,
This surely was not my fault!

Shriek, gasp, missfart and fat-toady
Shriek! Gasp a ka-choo, and twert.
The engine halted instantly,
Blowing oil upon my shirt!

I pushed the thing into the shed,
Where I covered it over with hay.
I guess Ill get me back to bed
And mow lawns some other day.
