Jackson S. Hayes, also known as 16 Tons, born in Kings Row Free Clinic August 12th, 1991 Jack Hayes is arrested for the first time. Charge: Vandalism April 18th, 1993 Jack "Miner" Hayes pursues his goal to join the skulls of Kings Row and is given the task of car-jacking as his initiation. During the jacking, Jack is struck and killed by radioactive blast during a battle between The Regulators Back Alley Brawler and an unnamed super villain. Rushed to the hospital by the Back Alley Brawler, Jack is revived by Emergency Room personnel. Later news reports indicate the unnamed villain killed a hero that was training with the Brawler earlier in the day. July 27th, 1993 Jack awakes after more than 3 months in a coma to find he has become victim of massive genetic resequencing, resulting in a drastic change in body type and a loss of muscular control. Michael White, a.k.a. The Back Alley Brawler, is on hand when he wakes and stays with him throughout the healing process. April 3rd, 1994 Jack takes his first unaided steps since his coma May, 1994 Jack starts studying his familys detailed past, through several generations, to pass the time October 30th, 1994 Jack is release from hospital into the care of his Mother, beat cop Officer Sienna Hayes and Michael White June 30th, 1995 Jack officially begins hero training with his longtime mentor Michael Back Alley Brawler White. Training includes not only physical and mental exercises, but also spiritual and educational activities. March 10th, 1999 Unable to invest himself fully in the persona of being a super hero, and bothered by the success of the Hero Corps franchise abroad and its efforts to set up shop in Paragon City, Jack Miner Hayes sets out on a cross-country walk-about. He intended to visit all the places in his familys past. He promises to stay in touch with both his mother and Michael White through letters chronicling his journey. May 23rd, 2002 During the multi-day exploration an abandoned coal mine near Mexico Hollow in West Virginia, in which his great-grandfather worked , a freak earthquake causes a cave in, trapping Jack several miles beneath the surface. July, 2002 Living off seeping water and burrowing insects, Jack records the beginning of a long series of visions of his grandfather in detail, including directions, conversations and survival advice October 15th, 2002 Jackson S. Hayes emerges from underground through a series of tunnels near Beckley, West Virginia - nearly 115 miles from where he first went under ground. Badly malnourished and dehydrated, he is caught completely off guard by the reports of (and subsequent encounters with) the Rikti. Saved by the remoteness and unimportance of the Beckley community, Jack defeated several woefully underpowered Rikti expeditionary teams. October 17th, 2002 After a short convalescence, 16 Tons sets off on foot for Paragon City in hopes of determining the fate of his mother, Sienna Hayes and his mentor, Back Alley Brawler. December 16th, 2002 The Rikti threat having withdrawn, Jack Hayes returns to Paragon City. He discovers his mother was killed within the first hours of the war, the rest of his family scattered or killed during the following months of conflict. December 24th, 2002 Jack Hayes takes on the dress and persona of his great-grandfather and becomes 16 Tons, named after the 1950s song that told the plight of the coal miners life. Working with Back Alley Brawler and the other surviving heroes of Paragon City, 16 Tons sets out to literally and figuratively clean up and rebuild Paragon City. July 10th, 2005 16 Tons forms the Working Class, a super group dedicated to protecting and defending the lower classes of Paragon City |
