R.D.'s Favourite LINKS
River Dawg checks them out, and so should you!
These are some of R.D.'s favourite links, plus some brief descriptions. The Official Weezer Website This site is maintained by Karl, who is a close friend of the band. The site is devoted to all things Weezer, and is by extension, very very good. Mercury Rev Fansite A website maintained by a fan in the UK, devoted entirely to the excellent band called Mercury Rev, known for its epic atmospheric music. Josh Groban Site The young man with the big voice. One of the few acts I've listened to that has managed to make my hair stand. And I don't even normally listen to stuff like this. The Hunger Site A click of your mouse will help feed the starving. Visit this everyday! Also has links to the Rainforest Site and Breast Cancer Site. The Official Site of Chuck Palahniuk I'm tempted to call him the voice of our cynical generation, but the truth is that his genius lies in how he has the pulse of present pop-culture pat down. In addition, he tells you how to make soap, get those bathroom tiles glistening, choke on food but not die, and enough of the inside jokes already. The site has not been updated for way too long, but there is a copious amount of stuff here. Check it out, don't check it out, that's fine. Just. Read. His. Stuff. The Douglas Coupland Website Another brilliant writer, albeit a bit more cynical than Chuck. And he's Canadian, which is good. (Chuck's American, but well, he's Chuck.) He has evolved very much through his many novels, but you ought to start with his second novel ("Life After God"). If the prospect of that sounds too harsh, then go with his first ("Generation X"). The website takes almost a week to load, so you might want to read some of his books in the meantime. Television Without Pity These people poke fun at TV shows airing in the USA. They invented snark, I'm just learning the ropes over here. Brown Town Written by a Singaporean whose wit and humour far, far surpasses mine. I can only wish one day that I could write like him. Richard Lim's Homepage The homepage of the editor of the Life! section of The Straits Times, the biggest newspaper of Singapore. An excellent and inspiring writer. and lastly ... National Earthquake Information Centre Earthquake Bulletin This is not a piss-take. Just check out how many earthquakes happen every single day in the world. It's scary. The earth is very much alive.
