Here's my little page about the wonderswan. The picture you can see above is about the inside once you have opened it up.
This console was invented by Gunpei Yokosomethingorrather(I'll try and find the name). He used to work for Nintendo and made the Gameboy and Gameboy Colour. After a while, he defected to Bandai and made the Wonderswan and the Wonderswan Colour. Although the Wonderswan and its Colour version never really sold outside of Japan and most people didn't know about it, it kicked the pants off it's Nintendo counterparts.
Unfortunately, after making the Wonderswan Colour, the upgraded Wonderswan, Gunpei died in a car accident. That could explain why the Swan Crystal(latest wonderswan system) doesn't kick the Gameboy Advances' pixelated a**. It is however, giving the Gameboy Advance and SP quite a bit of competition.
As most of you already know, the specs are a 3MHz processor, 4 channel digital sound, a 2.8inch TFT LCD screen. The screen used is the same as what GBAs and laptops use. It also has the capibility to extend its capabilities through its extension port located on the right side of the system. The expansion port can be used to connect headphones, Mp3 player equiplent, handphones(for onlne games and surfing the net), worm lights, scratch pads(for ames such as Beatmania) and TONS more.
It is possible that the reason that the Wonderswan systems never really sold much outside of Japan is because of Bandai's slightly unaggressive marketing techniques compared to Nintendo's(Pls don't kill me Bandai). most countries outside of Japan don't really know much about the Wonderswan because only a few special importers buy these systems for sale and only on occasion, the name Wonderswan appears in gaming magazines.
I just added a page of Swan Crystal screenshots. It features pictures of the system from all angles. You can go here to see them.
*update*
Through a slightly risky procedure, I have gotten more specs about the wonderswan that you most probably couldnt find anywhere else.
The SwanCrystal uses 90-100mAh during normal operation (games and stuff), 130-150mAh using the headphone adaptor(by Sammy), 80mAh during the data entry screen + another 35mAh using adaptor. It has 4 levels of sound, at the highest level it adds another 5 mAh on compared to no sound at all. If you are wondering what all of this means, for those of you who aren't electronic freaks, is the power consumption in mAh(miliamperes). For example, if you have a rechargable battery with 2000mAh(it says somewhere on the battery) you divide it by the power consumption stuff I wrote above and the result will be how long that battery will last (in hours). Hope that was useful... I *might* make a calculator for that in JavaScript but thats just if i have tons of free time.
I also acquired 2 games and I'm selling 1 of them for now. Rhyme Rider Kerorikan is up for sale and Wonder Classic Golf is going to be up soon. Besides games, I am also selling a Black and White (B&W) Wonderswan console. Use the link at the bottom of the page to mail me if interested and I'll get back to you with the details and pricing.
When on holiday, my SC got into a terrible accident involving a carbonated drink. You can go here for the story on what happened, the cleanup process, and what happened to my SC in the end.
More to come soon
