UR's Journal
12/02/03 - It's been a while, since I've updated this journal, so I'll give you all a quick rundown of what's been going on - I brought the initial mix of Livengrin in to Sigma to hear it in a pro studio and to get feedback from the chief engineer, Gordon Rice.  Gordon loved it! He offered some tips on the mix as well.  Since then I've remixed Livengrin and it sounds tons better!  The latest mix is available for download on Net Jam's Acid Planet page.  This mix of Livengrin was reviewed by Tod Kennedy at Gods of Music.com, more info on the Press Reviews page. Myself, the other great artists involved in Net Jam and a few other Acid Planet artists are starting a music label: Net Jam Records! - More info on this soon.  I'm working on an Uncle Remus CD which will be available for purchase through Net Jam Records soon.  A Net Jam CD will also be available through Net Jam Records in the near future. Even sooner than all of that, CD releases from Andrest, Berk and Goss, skipmoore.net, Ice Mac Sea, Burnin' Vernon, Blue Attitude and Jerry Baker will all be available from Net Jam Records!  Releases from The Emitters, Brothers in Blues and Mark Roberts will also be available in the near future.
10/09/03 - On Tuesday, I had my first official studio assist at Sigma Sound. Kenny Aronoff came in to cut some drum tracks for 3 TV commercial spots!  What a treat to watch a living legend do his thing in an intimate studio environment. I'd never heard drums sound so full-bodied as I did through Sigma's monitors.  Kenny nailed his parts quickly and with vigorous energy.  The man is a true pro.  I'm still in awe!
9/25/03 - Livengrin has finally debuted on the Net Jam AP page!  Enjoy!
9/23/03 - On the 18th, I got so caught up in what's happening with Livengrin, that I didn't get a chance to mention that I'd finally gotten a chance to meet two great AP artists face to face.  Michael McCrickard, Steev Schrieber and I all got together to see The Eric Steckel Band in New Hope, PA and hang out for a bit.  It was loads of fun!  Getting to bond in person with great musicians that I've been cyber-jamming with for a while really brings the Net Jam experience full circle! I only hope I get a chance to meet all the musicians I've been Net Jamming with, face to face sometime. It would be very cool if we all got together for a huge party and jam session!  One day.......  :-)
9/18/03 - Livengrin is in the final stages.  Got the drum track and it sounds great!  I also received the piano track from Steve Andrest and boy does it sound incredible!  Last minute, we mutually decided to add lyrics and vocals to this track.  Man the vocals are sounding sweeeeet!  Michael "Ice Mac Sea" McCrickard, "Burnin" Vernon Miller and Skip Moore are contributing vocals.  We have two sets of lyrics right now, one is penned by Steve Andrest and myself, the other set was inspired from the first set of lyrics and penned by Michael McCrickard.  Still not sure if we are going with one set or a combination of the two.  Skip Moore's vocal harmony work is simply amazing and really adds color to this tune, Michael's vocal style gives the song a pop flavor which IMHO, puts this song in another class, it really raises the bar of possibilities, besides his lyrics are brilliant.  Vernon's vocals sound as good as they ever have! He sang the same lyrics that Skip did, but at a different tempo. When Skips and Vernon's vocals are blended it creates a very interesting contrast and harmony. Steev Schrieber is adding one last guitar part this weekend.  I am very excited about this tune and having all these musicians help me make it what it is, is the best birthday gift I could imagine

Things are going great at
Sigma.  I played around with the SSL 9000 J last night!
9/09/03 - The new Net Jam track Livengrin is coming together nicely.  Received the bass track yesterday and it sounds fantastic, really anchors the track nicely.  I should be getting Skydog's piano tracks this weekend.  Danny Berk is on board! Yes people, we have live drums, not loops but live drums on this track! :-)  If all goes well, this track should debut before the end of September!
