A Love Story

CHAPTER SEVEN

Michelle rubbed her tired eyes and sat back on her stool. Glancing up at the clock, she was startled to learn that it was after ten oclock at night. She hadnt heard a peep out of Remus or James since they had had a light supper together earlier. Michelle took another five minutes to clear up her mess, then stood back and admired her work. With Remus keeping an eye on James like he did, Michelle was able to brew more than just one or two potions like usual. She had accomplished so much, in fact, that she was only going to have to work on two of the potions tomorrow. They had to sit overnight and thicken anyway.

Michelle put out the lights in the shop, and made her way back through the house to the main living room. What she saw there made her quietly gasp in delight. She grabbed her camera and took a picture of Remus and James, asleep together on the couch. There were quid-itch books strewn all about, and two half-empty glasses of pumpkin juice on the coffee table.

Quietly, so as not to wake either one of them, Michelle used one of her handy household charms to levitate James without waking him up. She then took him upstairs and tucked him into bed. As she descended the last step, she glanced at Remus sleeping form. Nodding to herself as if debating with a decision, Michelle went back into her shop once more. When she came back into the room, she had a bottle full of blue liquid and some cotton balls. Sitting them both on the table, Michelle sat down beside Remus and gently nudged him awake.

Hi, sleepy, time to wake up, said Michelle. wha? What time is it?, said Remus. Its after ten, sorry I kept you here so long, said Michelle. Thats ok, said Remus, I had fun! Yeah, Im sure you did, but Im afraid your not gonna like me after I tell you what I want to do now, said Michelle, with a touch of sarcasm in her voice. What?, said Remus warily. You see this bottle?, said Michelle, this is a disinfecting potion I have. Those cuts are pretty deep, and if you dont do something about them, theyre gonna leave scars. Oh, really, you dont have to. Thats alright. Besides, I know that stuff, and it burns like hell!, said Remus, wincing slightly. Michelle laughed and said, Oh no you dont, Im not gonna let you get away from this one!

With that, Michelle swung one of her legs over his lap, so that she was straddling his lap. She dabbed a bit of the potion on the cotton ball, and brushed it across a smaller cut above his left eye. Shit, that burns!, said Remus. Im sorry, but I have to!, said Michelle, now just hold still, heres another one. Quickly, before Remus could react, Michelle had another cotton ball saturated with potion and dabbed it on a cut under the same eye. When Remus yet again winced, Michelle reacted as naturally as any mom would. She leaned in close to his face and gently blew on the cut.

As the last bit of breath left her lips, Michelle turned her head ever so slightly to the left and came face-to-face with Remus. Neither one could make a sound. Michelle gave a silent, but nervous, gulp and stuttered, um, theres uh, theres some more cuts, I-I just have to get. Michelle could feel her face burning, and knew she was blushing, but couldnt help it. She finished two more small cuts, then told Remus, theres just this last cut. I may have to swab it twice, its pretty deep. With that, Michelle swabbed the cotton ball once, then twice, in quick succession, then again, blowing softly across the cut.

The cut, as it so happens, ran diagonal from left to right, straight across his lip, which put Michelle within one inch of Remus face. Michelles stare began at his lips, and ever so slowly traveled up to his eyes. Together they stayed locked in each others glance, as the cotton ball slowly drifted from her hand. Without ever taking his eyes off of Michelle, Remus gently lifted his arms to her face and cupped it into his hands. He pulled her to him and kissed her lightly.
