11/11/02- Interview with Junkie front man, Craig Wade- What he does in his spare time when hes not making shrinky dinks and going to school and his thoughs on the band...
M: How would you describe your band?
C: Incredible-hulk-having-sex-with-Lou-Farigno mixed with pop punk
M: How did you guys meet?
C: Me and Brian are neighbors, and I don't know...there's been 12 line up changes, it's pretty blurry...we met Drew at a show, though.
M: so Drew was fan?
C: yeah
M: How'd that come about?
C: What do you mean?
M: Him being in the band,silly?
C: Oh. He was a fan and he came up and talked to us after a show.
He joking asked us if he could be in the band, and we thought it was a joke, but it wasnt.
M: So, what are you influnces?
C: The Descendents, Sublime, The
Queers, NOFX, MXPX, Greenday...Blink, The Ataris..I don't know. Whoever. YOUR MOM. No really, my moms brownies.
M: you have a short attention span.
C: i know, ADD. you outta add that in there.
M: Oh, i am. heh. So, what are you currently doing?
C: I don't know I have a brain fart right now...you're not writing that now are you??
M: *giggle*
C: Actually, we're playing some shows. We took a break to write some songs..
M: and??
C: and we're still writing for a new cd, maybe an ep.
M: When do we expect the new cd?
C: um..early 2003, probably near January or Febuary...
M: Let me ask you, what's up with the dang thing?
C: The simple fact that if you say dang before every sentence you will live a longer life. example: daaaaaaaang, im living forever. *giggle* but when people read this, they wont get it..dang, its all about being there.
M: Daaaaaaaang, what are the new songs like?
C: They are equal part butt and rock, forming the perfect butt-rock sound, like any 80s rock band, like Winger failed to accomplish. No actually, it's just a little faser and a little harder. I wrote the perfect cheesey riff. It's sooo gay. It helps. It's really funny.
M: What do you like to do when you aren't doing the band thing?
C: Running the label.
M: You want to explain?
C: um, we just run a small label- me and Brian. It's all about promoting bands, helping bands. We haven't seen much of a profit but it's all about the bands and helping people.
M: What are you currently reading?
C: The Gift of Fear by Gavin Debeckar and a pamphlet on STDs.
M: So is it good?
C: Oh, I haven't really started reading it..but the pamphlet is GREAT. its got illustrations.
M: If you were a cartoon character who would you be?
C: oooooh, that's the most intriguing question I've ever been asked. Thats a hard one. what about you?
M: umm, Cartman- I cuss alot.
C: Yeah, I'd be the guy from the pamphlet
M: *giggling* Okay, Okay, the final question. Who is your favorite band?
C: The Desendents
M: and any other things you want to say to the fans?
C: um.....sock puppets are good entertainment.
