| Steve Hamby was
born and raised in a small town just north of Muskogee Oklahoma. He was
the son of a commercial fisherman, and just like Peter, made this his
means of living for close to fifteen years. In the early Seventies Steve began to play music as a hobby with members of the family and friends, with no ambition of any kind to seek a career, but his talent could not be easily overlooked, and it soon put him into a relationship that would never turn him loose again. Over the next ten years he traveled many of the western states, using the dance halls and honky tonks to perfect his voice and put his first chart record very near the top. In 1982 Steve finally made his way to Nashville and decided to make music his life long career. The move proved to be a rewarding experience as he appeared in the hottest spots in town at night and did studio work in the day. He landed his second chart record in 1983 which went number one in several states. While at the brink of an almost certain career, Steve was introduced to a study of the Bible, which caused his entire life to make an abrupt turn in the opposite direction. After deciding to put his career on hold until further direction from God, he retired for the next seven years to a life of study and to serve in church activities. In 1991, after several years of prayer, Steve decided to take his God given talent into another dimension, as he set out with his own self supporting ministry. Working with many Evangelistic programs, he has helped to bring many souls to the foot of the cross. In the past eleven years he has traveled the entire United States, scored four chart singles in the Christian Country field, performed on the CCMA, the ICGMA, 3 ABN, KSBN Safe TV, and many other live TV shows. He was just finished his seventh album , and has been nominated for a "Career Achievement Award" by King Eagle and Air Play International. God has taken him once again to the top in Christian Music, and he is now enjoying real success. Together with God and family, he is still spreading the joys of living a life for Jesus Christ. |
