| July 29, 2002 This is a long post, being sent to many individuals and discussion groups, about the biblical implications of the coming war with Iraq. Not easy reading. Many of you will want to write this off as a bunch of bunk. However, I urge you to file away a copy somewhere for a year or so. If at that time the initial projections have proven sub-stantially accurate, then you might want to reconsider the rest of them. [Note: If you want to save time, skip these old news quotes and scroll down to the purple divider, where the prophetic texts begin.] I'll begin with recent news quotes: columnist Joseph Farrah, July 23: You've read and heard a great deal about a likely U.S. attack on Iraq. It is coming. I am not giving away any state secrets here. Saddam Hussein knows it is coming, and he is preparing for it. Shortly, some time in the next year, the U.S. will launch an all-out attack on Iraq... This war will not just involve Iraq and the United States. Iran will be involved. Syria will be involved. Other Muslim states are likely to be involved. International terrorists will be unleashed from all corners of the earth. ... And this war will also come home, my intelligence sources say. Suicide bombers are already here just wait-ing for their orders to deploy hand-carried weapons of mass destruction in the United States. Israel and Europe will also be hit hard. ... Could I be wrong? Could my sources be wrong? I surely hope so. I sincerely and fervently pray they are wrong. But the threat is real. Things could get very ugly real fast. columnist Trudy Rubin, July 22: Pentagon media leaks hint of battle [with Iraq] by early next year. Debka.com, July 21: ...the new [Israeli] chief of staff Lt. Gen. Moshe Yaalon ... confirmed DEBKAfiles timeline for the US attack on Iraq: Fall 2002, shortly before or after the first September 11 anniversary, a date which President George W. Bush is said to wish for. This leaves six to eight weeks until the onset of a war in which Israel is bound to be involved. ... In a military confrontation with Syria, Iraq and the Hizballah, the United States and Israel alike face the dangers of mega-terror and attacks by weapons of mass destruction including radiological bombs, chemical and biologi-cal weapons. Strategic realities undreamed of today could result from such eruptions. [I should note that Debka wrongly predicted this war for last Spring, then said it was stymied by the blowup in Israel after the Passover bombing.] WASHINGTON, July 22 (UPI) -- Insider notes from United Press International for July 22: More war clues -- this time from Britain -- with no prizes for naming the target: U.S. officials tell UPI Hears that Prime Minister Tony Blair will announce an emergency call-up of British Army reservists in early Septem-ber. These sources say there has already been a substantial boost in Royal Air Force training flights, especially air-to-ground support missions. And in a crash program, British Challenger II main battle tanks and other key armored fighting vehicles are being taken out of mothballs and restored to full combat efficiency. [end of news reports; beginning of analysis] ____________________________________________________________________________________________ I believe this coming war with Iraq and other countries of the Middle East is prophesied both in Numbers 24 and Daniel 11-12. Here are the passages. Num. 24:23-24: Alas, who shall live when God does this? [Alternate reading, using a different division of the Hebrew letters: "A people shall gather from the north."] And ships shall come from the coasts of Kittim [the Western coastlands], and shall afflict Asshur [Assyria/Iraq], and shall afflict Eber [Hebrews/Israel], and he also shall come to destruction. Dan. 11:40 - 12:2: And at the time of the end shall the king of the south attack him; and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow as he passes through. He shall enter also into the glorious land [Is-rael], and many shall be overthrown; but these shall be delivered out of his hand: Edom [now part of Saudi Arabia and S. Jordan], and Moab [Jordan], and the chief of the children of Ammon [the king of Jordan]. He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. ... But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him; and he shall go forth with great fury to destroy and utterly to make away many. And he shall plant the tents of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain [Jerusalem's Temple Mount]; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him. And at that time ... there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation ... [and] thy people shall be delivered ... and many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life... These two passages say that a great army supported by many ships will invade, overrun, and occupy most of the Middle East. Precisely what is now being planned by the U.S. and Britain. According to the Bible, Iraq, the land of ancient Assyria and Babylonia, will be the chief target, but Israel shall also be occupied and "afflicted." The precursor of this war, according to Daniel, is when the spiritual king of the south -- in our days, that spirit which rules the Muslim nations -- attacks the king of the north. The attack of 9-11, financed and aided by Mus-lims from many countries, likely was that event (although there might be another attack yet to come). Daniel's spiritual king of the north anciently reigned over a Greek kingdom, i.e., a Western culture, which was gobbled up by Rome, militarily; but culturally, it was the other way around. It's/his descendancy is now found in Europe and the U.S. Now for the timeline. In a number of posts and in two books, I've described and shown many fulfillments of the 7 times' prophecy of Leviticus 26. These 7 times equal 2520 biblical/360-day years = nearly 2484 modern/ solar years. This period relates past historical events to modern ones. Seven times before our current era, Persian King Xerxes, the biblical Ahasuerus of Ezra and Esther, had just begun his reign. Two of his first acts were 1) to allow the enemies of the rebellious Jews to sack and burn Jerusalem and Judah, and 2) to subdue, using his own army, rebellious Egypt with great force. According to Hebrew Union College's Julian Morgenstern, the former event took place in 485 BC. (Ezra 4:6 briefly mentions when it was initiated.) Encyclopedia Britannica says the latter event took place in 484 BC. Continue Return to Index |
