| The Royal Marriages, Part 2: The Seven Seals. The Abomination of Desolation. Fourth Seal, Rev. 6:7-8. Z "[S]word...hunger...death....beasts of the earth." The parallel passage of Matt. 24:7 adds "pestilences and earthquakes in various places." The common theme here is instability: lack of civil order leading to chaos, and even lack of stability of Earth itself. Presently such conditions exist in Central Africa and some other areas: chaotic disorder resulting in famine, bloodshed, plague, and predation. S During the Exodus, this seal was foreshadowed by events at Rephidim, when the Israelites rebelled against and were "almost ready to stone" Moses, their leader. "So he called the place...Meribah [Contention, Strife]." Ex. 17:1-7 40 or 41 days after the departure. Z Again, Latter Day insurrections and chaos could easily begin within this period if wars and food shortages disrupt civil order. Fifth Seal, Rev. 6:9-11. Z Here is shown ones "slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held," that is, religious persecution unto death. And these martyrs cry out to God to "avenge our blood." S This seal was foreshadowed by the attack of Amalek upon Israel. Ex. 17:8f. Amalek was descended from Esau, the brother of Jacob/Israel. Esau had hated his brother ever since Jacob "stole" their father Isaac's blessing of the firstborn: the blessing of God unto preeminence. Gen. 27 (see vss. 28-29) Therefore, this was an extremely bitter religious (as well as martial) conflict between Israel and Amalek, during which many Israelites were killed. (Jasher 81:55, 59. Jasher 81:53 says Amalek "brought with him...magicians and conjurors" a clear foreshadowing of the demonically-inspired religious persecution of the End Times.) After this conflict, the Lord swore eternal vengeance against Amalek. Ex. 17:14, 16 About 42-43 days after the departure. Z In the great Tribulation, Christians and Jews will become scapegoats for the world's troubles. Sixth Seal, Rev. 6:12-17 (and Matt. 24:29-31). See first paragraph, and "Royal Marriages." 52 days. (I am not predicting that the Latter Day timetable will exactly parallel that of the Exodus, but I suspect the periods will be fairly close.) Seventh Seal, Rev. 8:1: Z "silence in heaven for about half an hour," i.e., a pause in events. This takes place immediately after God is said to "dwell among" the "great multitude [= the Raptured Church/Bride]...before the throne." Rev. 7:9, 15 S The Exodus-era foreshadowing of this event took place after "all the congregation [of Israel] drew near and stood before the LORD," and "the glory of the LORD filled the Tabernacle." "And Moses was not able to enter the Tabernacle of Meeting, because the cloud rested above it, and the glory of the LORD filled the Tabernacle": thus bringing priestly services to a temporary standstill. Lev. 9:5, Ex. 40:34-35 11-1/2 months; one full year from the beginning of the year (Nisan 1). After the pause of the Seventh Seal, events pick up again with the preparation for the Seven Trumpets to sound, Rev. 8:2-5. Here we see mentioned "a golden censer," the "altar" (of sacrifice), "incense," and "the golden altar" upon which incense is burned/offered. Then fire goes out from the altar. These things are clearly foreshadowed in Lev. 10:1-2. See Part 3: The Seven Trumpets. Return to previous page Part 3: The Seven Trumpets Index Index, page 2 |
