Remington aka "Remmy" is my pride & joy! He was my first horse. I still remember the first time I saw him - I don't think I'll ever forget it. He was just so perfect! I didn't think I'd ever get to own a horse of my own - I still can't believe how lucky I am. When a dream becomes reality it's an overwhelming feeling! And I have my awesome fiance, Mike, to thank for all of it. I also have to thank, Hunter Hill Farm (of Hartwick, NY), for allowing me to purchase this once in a lifetime boy!
Remmy is a horse that has a mind of his own. He's so incredibly sweet, but if you let him, he'll walk all over you. I love this about him. Some people forget that their horses are just that - HORSES! They are an animal. If they don't have rules, limitations & boundaries, they will be little terrors! Horses don't understand that they can hurt you with one swing of their head unless you teach them. Remmy is the epitome of this. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade him for the world, but he definitely pushes the limits sometimes. He can be a little shit! I love him, nonetheless. He's always the first one to come over to me. He loves attention. If you have a brush & some time to spend with him, he's like a puppy dog. He'll stand there for hours if you want him to. And if you give any of the other horses attention, he'll nose his way in & let you know he's there. He's such a brat.
Though he has his bratty ways, I would trust him with my life. He seems to know when he's gone too far or when you're in pain - it's uncanny. He's also so gentle with kids - I think I have the Draft blood pumping through his veins to thank for this. When I plopped my step-son, Matt, up on his back - he stood so still. Matt was just lovin' it - all he wanted was a picture. But I then led him around in a circle & he stepped so carefully. It was amazing. He knew that he could really hurt this little youngster on his back. This is the thing I love about cold-blooded breeds... they have such awesome tempermants. They can get up & go if need-be & they can just plod along at the slowest gait if you wish.
Remmy hasn't been ridden all that much this year - with my work being at odd hours all the time, I never have a chance to take him out. Which depresses me, but I'm hoping soon I'll have more time. He's so fat & out of shape now. God, I'm such a horrible 'mother.' *hehe* Mike & I are currently looking into becoming dairy farmers, so once this happens, I know I'll have more time to ride my boy. At least I know he's got a few playmates, so he's getting SOME kind of exercise. *haha*
Below are some pictures of my, "Rem-Rem." I don't have any good recent ones. And once I do, you'll know them when you see them. He looks like a pregnant mare!! *shakes head* I can't wait to start working with him again. It's pathetic - I call him, "my little chubbola." And yes, if you can't tell - I have lots of little nicknames & stupid sayings for my horses... I think everybody does.

The pics above & below were taken at Hunter Hill Farm. Can you see why I fell in love? He's just got gorgeous color!

And what a face, huh?! He has such a kind eye.

Here's my little 'star' in the winter of 2005.

Here's Remmy - Summer of '06 - goodness, he looks like a pregnant mare!
