Process

Read the steps below carefully.  Follow directions exactly.  This page will explain everything you need to do in order to complete your task.

1.  You and your partner will be assigned to one of the three different types of rocks: igneous, sedimentary or metamorphic.

2.  On the Resources page, you will find sites about each of the different types of rocks.  You will only need to look at the sites that teach about your rock type.  The other sites will not help you complete your task.

3.  As you look through the sites about your rock type, you need to find the following information:

  • How is your rock formed?

  • Where can you find your type of rock?

  • What are some examples of your type of rock?

Click here and print out the graphic organizer I have created.  Use this to help you record your information.

4.  If you find all of your information, you may find additional information about your rock type.  This is optional!

5.  Using the information you have found on your rock type, make a poster.  The poster will be used to help you teach the third graders about your rock type.  To see the expectations of your poster, you may go to the Evaluation page.

6.  You will complete a self evaluation of how well you worked with your partner during this task.  This evaluation can be found on the Evaluation page.

7.  Your final step is to present your poster to the class.  You will be teaching the third graders about your rocks!
