Richard's Memorial Service

Richard's Memorial Service was held September 2, 2007, at the Grace Memorial Baptist Church, in Clifton, Texas, at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Bill Schibler officiated the service. He reminded us of where Richard now is, in heaven, and encouraged the family not to let their hearts be troubled, because God has prepared a place for those who love him. (John 14) He also reminded us of what a Godly man Richard was in serving the Lord, the church and others. He noted how Richard's life was not easy, but he always got up and overcame the adversity, with the Lord's help. He shared stories about things Richard had done for the church, including singing in the choir, and installing the beautiful hand rail on the pulpit. He shared how Richard had wanted to be a minister and felt called to serve the Lord. The pastor quoted the Bible verses about how blessed is the man who serves the Lord, and how he will be like a tree planted by the waters (Psalm 1). Richard was a this kind of man!
Let these verses from the Memorial Service encourage your heart.

Psalm 1:1-3

"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of wather that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."

John 14:1-3
"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

We send a special "thank you" to all the ladies and gentlemen of Grace Memorial church for the wonderful lunch provided to all the family and friends following the service.
