                   "Easter At The Bridge"

Spring brings back the birds that sing,
The brillant flowers, the grass of green,
The budded trees that spread their leaves,
Spring is the renewal of all living things.

The birds that migrate in the fall,
            Return now one by one,
The grass and flowers of winter kill,
Will begin to appear with the warming sun

But the babies of the Bridge, that were tortured and killed will not
            return.

Dunkin was one of those babies,
            One I will never forget,
His loving kindness, and kitty purrs,
Was returned to him by hands of death.

This tortured baby kitten, only wanted a friend,
His trusting act of love and kindness,
            Was too soon to end,

Killed by two teens he tried to befriend.

I sit and hold my furfamily,
            I cry into their fur,
I try to warn them of the dangers
            Just outside my door.

I tell them of the little ones,
            That are tortured and die,
They look at me as if to say "Mommy tell me why",
To that I have no answers, I can only cry.

This would of been Dunkin's first Easter
            But he cannot be here.
Instead he was murdered by two boys,
Ones, he was not old enough to fear.

But never fear, there will be an Easter,
            Here at Rainbow Bridge,
The love that will go into the planning,
Will be more than most humans can give.

These beloved Furbabies will celebrate their own,
With thundering barks and purrs of joy,
Welcoming far and near, the celebration of "Christ's Resurrection"
            That has brought them here.

There he will keep and love them,
Safe from the hands of man,
In a paradise where all are loved,
            To never be hurt again.

            My Promise To Dunkin
            By Alta O'Neil
Dunkin, I know you can hear me. I see evidence of that more and                   more everyday.
I wanted to tell you that not all humans are bad. Not all
of us will harm animal babies. I know you have many friends there
and I also know you are happy and healthy.
I promised you I would do all I could do to see the Felony Bill
passed. I also told you I would never allow you to be forgotten.
The Bill did pass but with restrictions, however my promise to you
that you would never be forgotten will always live with me and go
with me to the the Bridge someday.
God Bless you Little Dunkin and all the other helpless animals man
tortures and kills just because they can.
Someday there will be equal justice for all and the one that is to
judge us in the end has love for everything he has created.
I don't think boot camp or a petty fine will be his kind of equal
            justice.
