Dunkin's Christmas Wish

By Alta O'Neil

I won't see the Christmas lights,
Or hear the sleigh bells ring,
I won't play in the fallen snow,
Or feel the love the Season brings.

My name you see is Dunkin,
I was only eight weeks old,
Not old enough to understand,
Why some have hands of stone.

These two boys, they picked me up,
And swung me round and round,
Then they poured the gasoline,
And through me on the ground.

And if that was not enough,
They lit the fatal match,
That set my fur on fire,
To complete their evil act.

I now play at Rainbow Bridge,
My spirit it soars free,
I run in fields of green, green grass,
Where all are kind to me.

But I miss my little Girl,
Many things we could of done,
Like climbing trees and chasing leaves,
In the warmth of the Southern Sun.

So all my friends at Rainbow Bridge,
Please say a prayer for me,
That some day we will meet again,
Where bird and man are free,

So on this Christmas morning,
Please look and you will see,
The flicker of a Golden Bulb,
Upon your Christmas Tree.

It is to wish you a Merry Christmas,
From the Bridge, Angels and me,
This Christmas Wish goes out to you,
That all Remember Me.

Wishing you
A
Purrrr-fect
Christmas.
