Welcome to ....THE DODGE GALLERY
The Dodge Charger --

This is a model of the General Lee, a Dodge Charger, used in the popular 80s TV show
Dukes of Hazzard. Our treasured model is signed by Ben Jones. Ben starred as "Cooter" and portrayed a mechanic who maintained all the Duke's vehicles. He now runs Cooter's Place with his wife. Cooter's Place is a wonderful Dukes of Hazzard Museum and roadside attraction in Virginia's Blue Ridge mountains. On Spring and Summer weekends, a General Lee, a chance to get autographs, the sweet sounds of bluegrass music, and the smells of fresh barbecue attract hundreds of visitors.

In addition to weekly appearances on the
Dukes, the Dodge Charger was also made famous in the 1968 Steve McQueen movie, Bullitt, as the bad-guy car.

The Dodge Charger was the quintessential American muscle-car. The R/T version produced from 1967 through 1970 had a 7.2 liter V-8, ran a 6 second 0 to 60, burned rubber in all gears, and topped out at 150 miles per hour. It also had a heavy duty suspension, optional Hurst manual transmission and heavy duty brakes. This Dukes of Hazzard model is fro
m ERTL (TM)!

Perhaps the ultimate expression of MOPAR power was provided as the Dodge Charger Daytona and it's sister the Plymouth Superbird. Both sported an aerodynamic nose and a high rear spoiler to keep the rear wheels planted. Although they overheated a low speeds, the Daytona set a record 200 mile per hour production car speed record.

The Dodge Charger R/T will soon be back on the American scene. DaimlerChrysler has shown some wonderful Charger concept cars on the show circuit and it is quite likely that one will appear in showrooms in a few years.

The Dodge Charger R/T Page shows side-by-side pictures of an old Charger and a new show car Charger. The styling pays tribute to the classic car, but the aerodynamics point towards the future.

This Charger R/T Show car model is from
Hot Wheels (TM).
