Welcome to ....The DeSoto Gallery
The DeSoto Car company was formed (along with the Plymouth Car company) in 1928 as a division of Chrysler.  The first DeSoto the Model K was introduced in 1929.  DeSoto pioneered concepts like streamlining back in the 1930s with the DeSoto Airflow.  Chrysler tried to offer high-style models at budget prices through the DeSoto brand.  However, in the postwar period DeSoto cars become too closely related to Plymouths.  DeSoto production finally ended in 1961 and the marque was eliminated.  But, every picture that I've seen of a DeSoto shows a very nicely styled and proportioned car.

The 1959 DeSoto Firedome Sportsman --

This four door Firedome Sportsman belongs to "Spike" on TV's
Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  Spike is a vampire, also known as William the Bloody, who liked to torture victims with railroad spikes.  Now, this sleek, winged, black DeSoto does seem to look a tad EVIL doesn't it?
