Welcome to ....THE BUICK GALLERY
The 1987 Buick Grand National --

After a decade of smaller engines and increasingly onerous emissions controls, the era of the muscle car was thought to be dead.? Then, came the Buick Grand National.? It was the last great hope for muscle in the 80s...

It applied turbocharging technology to a 3.8 liter V-6 engine and came up with one of the era's fastest cars.? It became legend when the press reported that it had a governed top speed of over 140.? There were reports that the FBI purchased these cars (without governors) for pursuits.? Perhaps at that point the car entered the realm of legend..,

This version was assembled from an
ERTL American Muscle (TM) kit and has a bottom plate from Racing Champions (TM).? Although it nicely reflects the original car and looks great in black, the kit was very difficult to assemble, the dashboard clips break when tapped into place, and one screw did not fit well to secure the bottom.? I hope future mini-kits work better because I was looking forward to building a quality die-cast model and having fun in the process.
