The Remedy Yourself Motivation page. If you're
trying to get things done but just can't get up the enthusiasm for
them, the following tips will help you get the motivation you
need. Here are ten (plus one!) solid ways to stay motivated.
Please read this first.
-
Cut back on intensity. Relax a bit.
-
Keep a schedule and make appointments. Write down what you
do.
-
Whenever possible, do it in the morning - you get it out of the
way and feel like you've done something.
4. Set small goals and meet them, but think about the big picture.
Are you learning something? Are you doing something new? Why
is this important?
-
Keep a journal. Write down the best points - and refer back if
you ever
start considering giving up.
-
Understand that your internal critic is only one voice. You can
counter it with a voice that cheers you and emphasizes your good
points. Create
your own internal cheerleader.
-
When you feel like doing nothing at all, do a little. Instead of
working two hours straight, shoot for half an hour. Doing even
that much at regular intervals is better than one rare long
stretch.
-
When you're ideas are getting stale, vary a bit. If you normally swim in
the morning, try a jog. If the story you're writing is getting old,
brainstorm for new ideas or start another one or read a book on a
different subject. Spice up your routine.
-
Make it fun. Add music in the background (not too loud!) or
make your work a game. Don't see it as an obligation. As they
say, "A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down!"
-
Work together. Find a buddy, a mentor to work with you or
help you. Often they can provide insight that is motivating or can
just be there to make it fun.
-
Think positive. Muster up all your energy and just do it with a
smile. You will find the motivation inside you.
