Cleaning windows. Worried about those windows? Want to get a streak free clean? It's not nearly as hard as you think if you know how - do it like those people who drop by (or better).
Please read this first.
-
Don't use spray glass cleaners or the garden hose and then leave filthy streaky windows. It should take 2-3 minutes to clean a window if you know how to do it right.
-
First, buy a professional squeegee - the best - for about $10. It should last you a lifetime.
-
Secondly, just use dishsoap (Joy, or anything) to clean even the
toughest windows (grease, oil, finger prints, dog slobber, fly specks, bird doo). It lubricates the squeegee and won't leave a residue. Use 2 teaspoons per gallon of water.
-
Third, put the solution on with a window scrubber preferably or with a sponge. Do not flood the window but put just enough on to clean. Wring the scrubber out to eliminate dripping.
-
Fourth, use the squeegee edge to go across the top at a slant (take off 2 inches of water). This is important.
-
Fifth, dry blade with a cleaning cloth then put blade in dry area and pull
down. Wipe again, repeat and pull down again. Wipe, repeat this
wiping and pulling down until you're done!
-
For high windows, follow the same technique with an extension pole. If
it has a swivel head on the squeegee, even better.
-
For paint, tree sap, stubborn stains, etc. on windows, use a
professional razor blade scraper. Do not use steel wool, scrub pads, or
abrasive cleaners because they will damage and scratch the glass.
