Stamping and stomping
1. You can use styrofoam or potatoes or any other vegetable.
Even cardboard will work!
2. For styrofoam, cut out the shape you want and make designs in the
less-smooth side with a dull pencil or empty pen. Glue another piece
to the back to make a "holder" for your stamp. Make sure the
carving is deep enough.
3. For vegetables, cut slices or half a potato and use a butter knife or pen
to carve designs in the potato. You can make it a round stamp with a design in the middle or carve out the sides
to give it the shape you want!
4. You can also just use cardboard, similar to the styrofoam.
5. Then put the paint you want to use in a tray and dilute as
necessary with water. You can also use fabric paint, etc.
6. Place the stamp on the paint, then wipe or sponge off any extra
paint.
7. Press firmly on the paper or place to be stamped without moving
the stamp around at all. Lift up and put in the paint again to
continue.
8. You can press items like gravel, beads, buttons, leaves,
combs, toothbrushes or other things into your stamp to help
create some texture. Leaves make great stamps just by themselves!
9. Be sure to let the stamps dry completely before you touch.
Don't make the paint too wet or the paper will curl.
