Beautiful Trees
I've always loved trees. Big, old trees have fascinated me ever since I was little, and I find them very beautiful. But I didn't start compiling this rather unusual collection of photos until 2002. I was inspired by Thomas Pakenham's wonderful book, Meetings With Remarkable Trees, which has since been made into a series of ten minute programmes on BBC2, and is still one of my all-time favourites. There was a tree at Sandringham, the Queen's country estate, that I had always liked to look at, to walk around and to touch. On the Golden Jubilee weekend, July 2002, I visited the house and gardens, camera with me, and took a portrait of this old, dying oak tree. From there, I decided to take photos of more old trees I knew and loved, now I'm putting them into this webpage so everyone else can see them too.
