| 45% Class participation, weekly written reflections, and a presentation: Mandatory Attendance: only excused (emergency) absences will be accepted. Two absences constitute a letter grade reduction and three is a failing grade. 20 Page-long (single-spaced) weekly reflection on readings, emailed to me by each Sunday. Having thoroughly read the assigned texts and websites, write a careful analysis of the various ethics involved. How does this relate to other readings and discussions we have had? Does this ring true to you? What insight did you draw from these materials regarding ethics? With grammatically correct and thoughtful prose, engage what has engaged you the most. 20 Informed, active participation in class conversation. Be ready to read aloud your reflection pages. Come to class with questions, thoughts, leads: we are here to learn from each other as well as from the texts. 5 Presentation of class readings (15-20 minutes). Depending on size of class, 2-3 people will present jointly. Have connected with each other in advance so as to decide the presentation breakdown. Leading of class conversation, including 4- 5 ethics discussion questions. This gives each class member the chance to lead conversation. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ 20% Midterm ____________________________________________________________________________________________ 35% Final Exam ____________________________________________________________________________________________ BONUS: Over the course of the semester, I shall provide ample extra credit opportunities to the class, such as related lectures, screenings, and ceremonies.These will be posted on the class website, and updated weekly.
