Her tear's fell unnoticed and her sobs came unbidden as she sat there under the night sky with moonlight reflecting in the lake. She sat alone on the bank lost in despair, she had written him a note she had told him how she felt she had held nothing back and she had signed it. In the note she had told him where and when he should meet her if he loved her like she loved him.
'If your love is as bright and all consuming as mine then be at the lake when the moon is bright.'
But now she sat alone holding her legs to her chest rocking back and forth sure that her mother would have told her this would happen, if she had bothered to tell her about her idea.
She had lost so much hope she knew now that she had lost him. The one thing she had cared more about than life itself and she knew now beyond a shadow of a doubt that he didn't love her. He loved the princess he had to. She had never felt this pain, not under Kagato's control not when she had been locked in the cave, this was true utter and unbeatable despair. She knew that he would have thought that this was another ploy to trick him and seduce him so she had promised him that she would try nothing that he could leave at anytime. She had even given up the one gem she had and put it with the note. She had given him everything she could the only thing she had left was her body and she had offered that more than enough times. The tears in her eyes rolled down her cheeks and her head bowed in defeat she ignored the moonlight on the lake and the stars in heaven, the ones that had always comforted her. She ignored them all she was in utter and true despair. She ignored the quiet noise of approaching footsteps and the breath of someone who had been in a hurry. She hardly noticed the hot breath on the back of her neck and the quiet panting of someone catching their breath. She didn't move when somebody sat beside her. She noticed the sigh and then the gentle rustling of the leaves on the ground as the person scooted closer to her. She felt hope begin to stir in her chest when the person placed their arm around her crying shoulders and gentle pulled her to them. She found that her tears were gone and dry. She felt the sharp blinding pain in her heart had quit and that her chest had quit heaving with her silent sobs. She slowly raised her head and looked with tear streaked golden catlike eyes at the person who had come to her the one who had comforted her and her hope flew as she recognized the scent. It was of the one she loved the one she needed, the one she desired, she jumped startled when he spoke, his voice sad and happy at the same time
"I'm sorry."
Her hope fell silently she wondered if he had come her just to tell her that he had chosen the princess.
"I am sorry for keeping you waiting."
Her hope shot to new heights she let go of her legs and wrapped her arms around him the one she loved and squeezed her eyes shut in happiness. She felt whole, complete, she felt untold amounts of love. She felt new tears flow but not from sadness but instead in happiness. When she felt him bow his head and kiss her lightly on her forehead she sighed in happiness to her this was heaven. He had chosen her, not the princess, not the goddess, not the scientist, not the galaxy police officer. He had chosen the demon, the weapon, the uwakionna, the unwanted one.
She raised her head and looked up and locked her eyes on his brown eyes and he leaned down, never taking his eyes off hers, there lips met and their eyes closed the moment seemed to last forever and not long enough.

I dont own the characters AIC and Pioneer do so please dont sue me. This struck me as needing to be written it was an unusual and unique and I hope that you enjoyed it and as always if you think that Tenchi should have chosen someone else then go write your own fic this is mine and I will write it how I want.
