From the beginning, Grey's Anatomy has been one of the most talked about medical dramas on television. Each week viewers tune in and live vicariously through their favorite intern or resident. It is often overlooked that these events and situations that are being portrayed on the show actually happen each day in hospitals around the world. For years, there has been a debate of whether there is a place for religion in such a scientific environment. The doctors on Grey's have been able to achieve something that many real-life doctors still struggle with- embracing both the spiritual and the scientific. Don't get me wrong, there are still characters like Dr. Cristina Yang, who, though they do have a moral conscience, refuse to let faith have a place in a hospital. Though Cristina is a bit abrasive, she is balanced out by Dr. Izzie Stevens, who always has a sense of hope and faith that something greater is working in their favor. And of course there is the title character, Dr. Meredith Grey, who is still searching to find that happy medium and perhaps take a leap of faith. If Grey's Anatomy has taught its viewers one thing, it is that even the simplest questions about life can have many answers...and of course, laughter is always the best medicine. |
