STANDARDISE TARAVEEH
Alhamdollillah the
Holy month of Ramazaan is approaching.
Soon we shall be
starting Taraveeh prayers on the sighting of the Ramazaan moon. It is always
heard that some way should be devised so that Taraveeh Prayers are standardized
so that if a person Prays in any mosque he does not miss a single Ayaat and
hears the Holy Quran in Continuity. The solution is very simple, easy to follow
and does not involve any extra trouble, burden or inconvenience of any kind.
The Holy Quran is a
Book par excellence. I just do not have words in which to express my admiration
for this Book. The Book is divided into 114 Suras or Chapters, which contain all
told 558 Rukkus, or you may call them Paragraphs.
Now , in our part of
the world we start the Taraveeh on the night of 1st Ramazaan and normally
finish on the night of 27th Ramazaan, that is we offer Taraveeh for 27 nights
and at the rate of 20 Rakaats in all (27x20= 540).
Now taking away Sura
Fateha, which is offered in every Rakaat we are left with 557 Rukkus. If all the
mosques offer one Rukku per Rakaat we shall be offering 520 Rakaats and 520
Rukkus in 26 nights, which will leave 37 Rukkus, to be offer in 20 Rakaats on
the last night that is the night of 27th Ramazaan. These Rukkus are all small
and even 2 Rukkus can be offered in some Rakaats. Incidentally all these37
Rukkus are to found in the last Sipara (30th) commonly known as "Amma Yata
Saeloon" or beginning with Sura Naziat.
In this way, if
anybody prays in any mosque he does not miss a single word what to speak of
Ayaat, or Rukku.
I had the pleasure to
talk to a couple of Taraveeh reciters and they have agreed to do it this way
this Ramazaan. You may also talk to the Imams in your local mosque and get the
Taraveeh Prayers Standardized by offering one Rukku per Rakkat & 37 Rukkus in
last 20 Rakaats.
May Allah help you in
your noble efforts. Aameen.
