Since a long time it is being observed that "Islam" is being mercilessly maligned in the Western Media. Even our own writers and intellectuals do not tire of quoting those Western  writers, particularly the negative aspects of it. The time has now come to call a spade a spade and face facts boldly, squarely and without any favor or fear. If you will recall the Muslims came into real limelight in 1973 or there about when the "oil weapon" was used for the first time and the price of crude went up from a dollar or so a barrel to almost $ 42.00/per barrel. As the bulk of the 'exportable surplus " was in the hands of the Arab Muslims, of which the mass being in the hands of Saudi Arabia, all sorts of negative ideas were fed to us that the Saudis are this and that; they cut hands for theft; they do not give liberties to women; they waste time praying five times a day; they fast for a month which slows down the pace of  work and- you can add on indefinitely. You may also go thru the Newspapers and magazines of those periods to have an idea. However the Saudis stood their ground. Were not cowed down by their rubbish propaganda; invested their petro-dollars wisely by setting up de-salination plants; building infra- structure; turning the desert green by massive plantation and wheat- growing et providing health and educational cover to 100% of the population and setting up basic industries. Because the Saudis had "OIL" the propaganda died down and the present generation of Saudis is a literate, wealthy, healthy, AIDS- free, drug-free, corruption-free and sect-free society. We  wish them well for the future.

Then came the Iranians. After the failure of the American policy of propping up the Shah and the subsequent entry of the clergy the target of propaganda became the Iranians. They too were treated like the Saudis but because of dependence of the west on their "Oil" the West was forced to lick its wounds and reconcile. The licking process is on at moment, as I write these lines.

Now it is the turn of the Talibans . All sorts of vile, malicious and  baseless allegations are being hurled against them. Hats of  to the Talibans that in spite of not having any "Oil" like the Saudis and Iranians, they are sternly facing the West and it hostility. If by stroke of luck it is discovered that Afghanistan has one of the worlds largest deposits of "OIL" and "GAS" all the hostility will cease and those greedy and opportunist multi-nationals will start making a bee-line in no time.  Forget not that the MAKER, CREATOR and SUSTAINER can do WHATEVER HE desires! In spite of Taliban controlling over 95% of Afghanistan, they are not recognized. Reminds one of China and Taiwan. The mainland with 99% of population & land area was ignored while one percent was given a permanent status in the UN!

Bravo for these paper tigers and their cock-eyed ways of looking at things. On a visit to China in 1967, the writer himself read this banner written all over: "Down with the paper tigers and the American running-dogs". To-day, China enjoys "Most Friendly Nation" status by those same Paper tigers and running dogs! The Bamboo Curtain withstood all storms and the running dog has been left to lick.

The same blurred, hazy, opaque and cock-eyed ways are being used to describe Islam. . Islam is a religion, which is new fresh, crisp, wholesome and latest in the series of Monotheistic religions of the world. Yet we Muslims are branded as "Medieval Fundamentalist". We are only going back to 1400years, while the Christians are 2000 years old; Jews about 3000 years old and Brahmanism about 4000 years old. They are all trying to revert to their fundamentals and origins. 

Compared to Islam, should we not brand them as " Archaic Obscurantist?" They have outlived their utility. There is no more originality left in them. Their holy books are all distorted, disfigured and none in their original form. They are not even placed in their centers of origin.

They are all dispersed. Did Christianity start in Rome, St.Petersburg or Canterbury? Where were the Jews for  3000 years till 1949?. Why did the Brahmans of India allow the Muslim to rule over them for over a thousand years till the Britishers took over ?

In many articles the Indians are praised and eulogized. This  makes one tickle. For almost 50 years their " Deity" was the  USSR. Like Mahmood  of Ghazni (an Afghan ) smashed the idols of Somnath into several pieces, the Afghans again broke the Indian " Deity" of USSR and made them change their direction from USSR to US! This is again the Indians greatest short sightedness and blunder. Let me explain. America is a "free" society The Indian is riddled with cast and sub-cast. The Indian society in spite of its best efforts has not been able to fully implement the Hindi language which is even now dominated by Persian and Arabic influence. The information Technology has developed in the South of India which is inhabited by the Dravidians who hate Hindi and give preference to English. It is only because of their mastery over the English language that they caught-up with the IT and soon created a niche for themselves. This has been going on for about 7 or 8 years. The Brahmans of Delhi have only now awoken and an IT Ministry has been created some months back the purpose being not to develop IT but to check the advance of the Dravidians.  The money will be siphoned off from them and spent on the Brahmans. This is Hindu Mythology.

In the USA itself momentous under-currents are under way. Every minute the Muslim population is increasing. A new Mosque is being inaugurated every week. The momentum will pick up speed sooner than latter. Spanish is replacing English. Within the next 10 years 51% will be Spanish. Whereas English Language contains a few hundred Arabic words only, the Spanish language contains 7000 Arabic words. So where are we heading? Please judge for yourself.

As this article has become too long from my standard, I will beg your leave with a poser: would you not prefer "Medieval Fundamentalism" to "Archaic Obscurantism"? I leave the vote to you with all my wishes for your health, wealth, happiness and prosperity, here and hereafter.
