Chapter 3 Injustice!
Disclaimer: Nope, still
don’t own Gundam Wing.
Duo couldn’t keep the huge
grin off of his face as he tapped the videotape on the seat next to him. Did
she really think I couldn’t find evidence that she did that horrible injustice
to my clothes? His mind screeched to a halt. Injustice? There’s no way I
just thought that! He smacked his forehead with his palm.
"I’m turning into
Wufei…" He thought out loud as he parked the car his words bouncing off of
the gray interior seats. Unbuckling his seatbelt as he wrapped his fingers
around the handle of the plastic bag containing his evidence before climbing
out and starting toward the front door. The house was quiet. Too quiet.
He poked his head into each
of the rooms, in consecutive order, scrutinizing the inside but to no avail.
Hilde was gone. He didn’t have to glance at the half-open empty drawer to know
she had left. The bag landed on the carpeted floor forgotten as he immediately
went over the available resources.
No matter what, he was
getting his Hilde back.
Heero scanned the video
screens again. There was no trace of the former Vice Foreign Minister. He knew
she couldn’t have just disappeared into thin air. His eyes scanned over the
image of the garage surrounded by equal sized images of every room in the whole
house. He tapped a few keys and the picture of the garage filled the screen.
His eyes narrowed at an empty parking space that had been occupied just minutes
earlier. He slammed his hands down on both sides of the keyboard as he stood
up.
"That little weasel
stole my car!" He opened another program slipping a disk into the computer
as he did so. "Payback time, scum." He said as he turned on the
tracking device.
Relena couldn’t stop the
giggles. I was close, nine words. She tapped her fingers on the wheel in beat
to the song playing on the radio. She glanced at the ticket for the shuttle
flight smiling to herself. If anyone would understand her dilemma it was Hilde.
Although, it seemed she had exactly the opposite problem she was the only one
who could relate perfectly to Relena. I wonder what she’s been up to on L2…
Sally started to turn off
the computer and head home for some quick packing when a call came in. She was
shocked to see Noin’s tear streaked face fill the screen.
"Noin, what’s
wrong?" She asked leaning forward in her seat.
"Sally, could you come
over? As soon as possible, please. I really need someone to talk to. In
person." She replied.
"It’s Millardo isn’t
it?"
"Can you come?"
She asked again ignoring the question. Sally nodded in reply.
"Of course, I can.
I’ll be there as soon as possible." She promised before Noin’s face
disappeared off of the screen. Oh, Noin. What happened now? Sally sat there
staring at the blank monitor for a few seconds as revenge filled her mind.
Whoever did this too
you… Will pay.
She shifted the weight of
the duffel bag before replying. "Just out." Trowa moved closer his
face unreadable due to the large bang that occupied half of it.
"Out? Since when do
you need suitcases to go out?" He demanded his green eye glancing toward
the items in question through the trunk window before returning his gaze to
her.
"Why do you
care?" She shot back opening the door and placing the bag on the back
seat.
"Why shouldn’t
I?" He asked. She ignored the question climbing into the driver’s seat.
The passenger’s door swung open as Trowa seated himself on the red cushioning
before turning to face her.
"What do you think
you’re doing?!" She exclaimed almost dropping the keys.
"Getting an answer.
Why don’t you think I’d care if you leave?" He asked calmly.
"You hardly care when
I am here." She answered before commanding,
"Now get out."
"No." She sighed
turning the key before attempting to reason with him.
"What about the
circus?"
"They’ll manage
without me."
"Shouldn’t you at
least give them a heads up?" She asked.
"Will you still be
here when I get back?" She nodded. "Promise."
"I promise I’ll still
be here." He studied her for a minute before climbing out of the car. Only
then did she uncross the fingers of her left hand and hastily scribble down a
note. Leaning out of the car she embedded a small knife into the ground
securing a note.
Minutes later, Trowa was
staring disbelieving at a small note as his hand tightened around the handle of
one of Cathy’s knives.
Trowa,
Sorry but I had to.
Besides, I had Kings all the time. Honestly though, I
didn’t lie to you. A
part of me will always be with you if you keep the knife.
Good luck,
Cathy
"Darn it, Cathy. I
don’t want a piece. I want all of you." He muttered bitterly before
heading to his trailer. He had to find her.
No, he would find her.
Quatre glanced at the
contents of the cabinet. His fingers traced the carving on the hilt of the
saber as his pulse slowed down. She wouldn’t leave this behind. She’s coming
back, then. I wonder why she left, though. He stood there debating whether
or not to go after her. He had just made up his mind when someone behind him
cleared his throat. He whirled to face the intruder his guard instantly up, a
reflex that had stuck with him ever since the battles. Rashid stepped further
into the room. The fatherly figure met his eyes, compassion lurking in his own
depths.
"Go after her."
It was all he said before leaving. Quatre stood there for a minute before
moving to the computer. If he was going after her he had few ends to tie up
first.
Noin lifted a hand
fingering the long bangs as if she had just discovered they were there. Sally
would be here soon. She can help me. I can’t believe I would actually consider
this. After all I promised would I really leave Zechs? Why do I honestly want
to leave him? I still love him. Maybe, I’m just jealous that Relena’s more
important to him then I am… But, then why don’t I feel angry with Relena
instead of Zechs? Is it just because he’s ignoring me? After all we’ve been
through I can’t believe he would shove me on the back burner. I guess family
matters more then me. Her thoughts continued to run unchecked through her
brain as she gazed out the window not really seeing anything.
Zechs ran the conversation
through his mind again as he shifted in the chair. Is she really leaving me
or am I just imagining things? Why would she leave? She promised me! She
promised to remain by my side. He glanced over at the empty seat next to
him. Then why isn’t she right there?!
