Chapter 2 I’ll Never Leave You…. Liar!!!

Disclaimer: Nope, I didn’t get my Christmas Wish. Gundam Wing is not
owned by me, so don’t sue!

Hilde glanced up from her work as a muffled yell drifted toward her tired ears. She instantly perked up racking her brain for a reason why Duo would yell her name. Last Tuesday flashed in her brain. She dropped the folder on the desk as she ran toward the door. It flew open and she barely had time to skid to a stop. When she finally dug in her heels it was too late and she was hanging precariously over the doorstep. A strong arm caught her around the waist jerking her back inside the office. The door was kicked shut with the heel of her captor’s foot followed by a loud click as her pulse wildly raced.

"Hilde," His voice was quiet with a coldness that sent shivers up her spine. "Why the rush?"

"I thought I heard someone calling me." She lied squirming against this grip. "I was worried something happened outside." She made a gesture toward the scrap yard beside the house.

"What happened to my clothes?" He suddenly asked. Fabric was dangled in front of her face as she fought against the waves of panic that threatened to consume her.

"Your clothes?" She managed to say trying to sound innocent. His weight shifted and she could imagine him narrowing his eyes at her over her head.

"Yes, my clothes." The items in question landed on her desk as he released her waist. She immediately put distance between herself and the irrational accuser as she turned to face him. Taking a deep breath she attempted to talk her way out of the problem.

"What’s wrong with your clothes?" She asked feigning ignorance. A
threatening growl came from the braided male in front of her. She caught a flash of black as her left wrist was seized in a firm grip.

"Don’t play dumb with me, Hilde. What did you do?" He interrogated his violet eyes boring holes into her bright blue ones.

"Really, Duo. Why is it that when ever something happens you blame
me?" She replied drawing herself up to her full height as she bravely met his gaze.

"I don’t always blame you but when I do it’s for a good reason. You
washed my clothes last week and suddenly this happens to them!" He gestured toward the clothes irritated.

"All you have are suspicions, Duo!" She yelled that back anger growing as she advanced on him determined not to let him have the upper hand.

"You immediately assume it’s me! When you get some hard based evidence then you can accuse me!" She wrenched her wrist from his grip using his shocked state to her advantage. Storming past him she snatched at the folder before unlocking the door and slamming it after her.

Duo watched her retreating form his eyes narrowing.
Very well, Hilde. This is war.

She slumped against the hard wood door her legs pooling underneath her as she desperately searched for a way out of the hole she had dug herself in. Knowing Duo he would probably take this as I personal challenge. I’d take a vacation until he cooled off if it wasn’t for that Yuy. That sickening stinking scum! If it wasn’t for him I could disappear for a few weeks, but no the arrogant Gundam pilot had to work wonders with computers. Not that I’m such a poor hacker myself but even I can’t completely disappear. A completely different train of thought struck her as the corners of her mouth curved upwards. Fine,
Duo. If you’re going to make this a competition…
I’m pulling out all the stops.

Relena glanced at her watch one last time. Perfect. She knelt next to her bed before dragging out a small carryall. Grasping the handle she marched out of the pink room and through the endless corridor of the doors. When she finally reached the garage she wrenched open the car door before tossing the bag inside.

After the bag was stashed in the one place she knew he would never look for it she turned on her heel swiftly walking back to her room.
Leaning against her door with the same mask of emotionless was the cause of all her problems. Heero Yuy. Rage boiled up inside threatening to spill over as she stopped in front of him.

"What did I tell you?" He asked pushing away from the door. She reached for the doorknob mentally counting the number of words he had used. Darn it! Only five. She remained silent as she calmly pushed the door open and stepped
inside.

"Don’t let this happen again." He warned before she could shut the door.

Ten. I got him to say ten, in two sentences. I suppose that’s an improvement.

She slumped against the door for a minute wallowing in self-pity before squaring her shoulders and tackling the monstrous amount of work waiting for her. Before she picked up the new treaty to be reviewed a stray thought passed through her mind.
Maybe he’ll say eleven words when he discovers I’m gone.

Sally leaned forward placing her palms fingers spread on the walnut desk.

"Une, I need this break. If I don’t get some time away from that annoying justice sprouting freak, I will go insane." She replied. Une surveyed her for a minute.

"Can’t this wait at least a month?" She asked pulling out a small planner and flipping to the calendar section.

"No. I need it now. Before I literally blew up in everyone’s faces." Sally
stated.

"How long?" Was the immediate reply. Sally toyed with the end of a twist as she phrased her next sentence.

"I don’t know. At least a month maybe more. I can’t say for sure…"

"After a month check in and we’ll discuss this more." Une interrupted.
"You have enough sick days to more than cover this but you are on call." She held up a hand when Sally started to interrupt. "You agreed to the terms when you became a Preventer. Now go. I don’t want to see you back here unless called, understood?"

Sally smiled as she responded, "Understood." She rose and opened the door before glancing over her shoulder. "Thank you, Une."

Catherine nodded to the manager before heading to her trailer. Finally, I can leave! A huge smile filled her face as an extra bounce showed in her walk. One full month without his silent disapproval. She unlocked the door before grabbing the two awaiting suitcases seated right by the door. She loaded them in the back of the trunk and was about to climb in the driver’s side when she suddenly released she forgot her knives. She glanced at her watch before frantically making her way back to her trailer. DARN IT!! He’ll be back any minute. She thought as she hoisted the duffel bag containing her precious cargo to her shoulder. She was almost to the car when the hairs stood up on the back of her neck.

"Where are you going?" She shivered at the slight tone of betrayal that
underlined the seeming casual words pronounced by a very familiar voice.

She knew there was no way she could leave undetected but at least Quatre wouldn’t know she was leaving for good right away. She had packed just enough clothes to make it appear she was coming back. But in all honesty there was no way she could take all of her clothes. Because truth be told they weren’t hers. Nothing was hers except for the sword. Her heart ached already missing the sword but if she took it he would know and she didn’t want him to know. So instead she had taken his clothes meant for her, his money, his carry-on, and his car.

At least she was returning the car. But she had to start over. She had to have something that was belonged to her. Hers and hers alone.

Dorothy stopped at the red light tapping her fingers on the wheel. She glanced over at the small package seated on the passenger’s seat. Since, she had taken all of hers and his clothes she figured she might as well take something that was completely his. Just to remember him by.

He was finally gone. She didn’t think he would every shut up and get on the flight. Especially, after he found out she wasn’t coming. Why would I come? I hear enough about the darn woman from you each day. Why should I let my life become completely taken over by your sister? She sighed pressing her nose against the glass of the window. Nothing would rid the disappointed expression on his face when she informed him she was staying behind.

Hours earlier….

"I thought you would never leave my side." He replied his voice harsh to even his own ears. Her eyes filled with tears as she tore her gaze away from his.

"I won’t ever leave your side, Zechs. I’ll still be there for you. I just won’t be shoulder to shoulder with you."

"You know just as well as I do your leaving." He replied his tonecutting
though the comfortable surroundings of the airport. (or I guess shuttle-port in this case…)

"Zechs, I…"

"Why won’t you come with me?" He asked a tint of pleading in his voice.

"She’s your sister. You have years to catch up on. This should be a
brother and sister-bonding trip. I would just be in the way." She answered.

"Lucrenzia, you would never be in the way. Relena…" She cut off his
sentence with a swift reply, "Yes, I would be in the way. There will be other visits when I can tag along. This should just be you and Relena."

He started to say something but the final boarding call sounded over the speakers. He stood up gathering his carry-on before walking to the flight attendant. She whispered goodbye to his back the words drifting into his ears and echoing in his mind. It had an air of finality that he didn’t like.

He didn’t like it one bit.
