She glanced over her shoulder watching the irate form of Heero.
"You owe me."
"Nani?"
"For the lipstick. I really liked that shade." She stuck her
bottom lip out in a pout as she glanced up at him. He wasn’t buying it but he
still leaned forward his attention riveted on the lush red item in question.
"I hate it when you wear lipstick. Your lips don’t look right and
taste like…"
"Paste?"
"They don’t taste like Relena and I want to taste Relena." He
corrected.
"It’s still expensive."
"You put it on again and I’ll do exactly the same thing."
"Heero Yuy, is that a threat?" She asked sarcastically.
"Yes." She reached into the small purse that hung off of her
shoulder digging around until she found the long black tube. She pulled the top
off and was pressing the red stick up when it was snatched out of her hand. She
glared at Heero as he held the lipstick out of her reach, accidentally pressing
a small black button on the side. (1) The stick exploded, splattering red ink
all over his clothing and hand. She swiftly gathered her skirt in one hand and
took off running.

She twisted her head to glance at the intruder, smiling sheepishly.
"Hey, Duo. What have you been up to?" She greeted as two strong
arms lifted her from the lid and placed her back on the edge of the tub.
"I actually made breakfast for you. I figured we could have a nice
long talk afterwards." He answered bending over her foot. She clenched her
toes tighter as he pried the keys loose. Once they were free he tossed them
over his shoulder not even watching as they landed in the hallway outside.
Leaning back on his heels, he gazed up at her the cobalt blue eyes hardening,
as she froze surprised at the ruthless scrutiny. "One you promised
me."
"I never promised to talk," She shook her hands making the cuffs
clink together. "While handcuffed, Duo."
"I’ll let you out," He held up a finger wagging it at her
disapprovingly. "On one condition. We talk first."
"That’s not fair! I’m at a disadvantage!" She said starting her
loud protest.
"Then you’ll have no problem seeing things my way." He grinned,
running two fingers up her ankle stopping just below a large bruise. "I’m
sure you would be more comfortable sitting down." He paused watching a
hopeful expression light up her face. "So, you might want to make the
discussion short." He finished turning away from disappointment and hurt
that replaced the previous expression.
"What do you want to talk about?" She asked abruptly. He grinned
up at her, wagging that finger in her face as he stood. She frowned at knowing
she couldn’t rip it off and flush it down the toilet with her hands, yet.
"Breakfast first, babe." He teased picking up the tray.
"I don’t want to eat. I want to talk. Now." His grin grew wider
as he selected a piece of toast.
"Duo Maxwell! If you don’t start talking, I swear as a…" She
trailed off as the toast was rammed in her mouth. She briefly considered
spitting it back out in his face. He hastily backed up, out of her spitting
range. She glanced down at the various substances already staining her floor.
She really didn’t want to add disgusting saliva covered morsels to the cleanup
so she obediently took a bite. She found it almost impossible to chew with the
whole piece of bread halfway in her mouth. Casting a pleading glance toward the
God of Death she waited motionless. Gingerly, he crept forward ready to dodge
at any moment and removing the extra toast from her mouth.
"Duty to society, I will beat some sense into…" She quickly
chewed and swallowed the next obstacle keeping her from who she really wanted
to chew out. " That overgrown hair-filled scalp…" In between the
sporadic shoving of food into her mouth she managed to say the following.
"Containing moldy remains of what used to be brain but clearly got
knocked out years ago. Leaving the half-witted jerk that is digging a bigger
hole for the braided baka by not only duct taping me when I CLEARLY left for a
reason and then dumping me on a shuttle. And not only did you insult not only
me but also the entire female population, with your snide remarks and
half-baked ideas. Including not only mistreating a valuable business partner,
who owns the land the business is on but manages the books, by locking her up
in a bathroom and then forcing food down her throat!
"Denying her not only of the basic rights granted by law to me but
insulting my intelligence as well with the misconception that a little TALK is
going to make it all better. DUO MAXWELL, YOU HAVE JUST BEEN WARNED. IF I AM
SUDDENLY NOT FREE FROM THESE IRRATING CUFFS, YOU WILL KNOW THE MEANING OF PAIN.
"LOTS AND LOTS OF PAIN!!! And it will occur, SOON. Consider it a
promise." She threatened staring him down with chilling eyes. She was past
angry.
Way past it.
Duo glanced at her face. He wasn’t sure whether or not she really intended
to make good on her threat, but he didn’t want to push his chances.
Too much.

"They’re on the southside of the park feeding the ducks."
"How long have they been there?" The tall blond asked quickening
his pace.
"Fifteen minutes and forty-five seconds." Was the Chinese’s
immediate reply. And I thought I had it bad.. Zechs thought before he caught a
glimpse of violet hair belonging to his obsession.
"I suggest we spilt up. It’s better to deal with one instead of both of
them." He advised, receiving only a small head nod from the Preventor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He glanced at her again. She had given up on threatening him after it
hadn’t worked the past fifty times. His ears were still ringing with her last
threat. I never knew my Hilde could be so creative. He studied her face. The
soft bluish-black hair that was sticking to her neck in a strange windblown
appearance, from the wildly shaking of her head as words spewed out of her
lips. That’s exactly what she is. My Hilde. And she’s finally back. He grinned
not at all surprised when her eyes sprang open glinting dangerously.
"Duo Maxwell…" He cut her off before she could start, grasping
her forearms as he crushed her lips under his. Marking his territory.
Hilde started to panic. She couldn’t breath with the bruising kiss Duo was
giving her. She twisted violently underneath him feeling the last of her oxygen
leave her lungs. His violet eyes grinned devilishly at her as the sweet flow of
oxygen filled her lungs. Her bright blue eyes widened in surprise as her nose
was crushed even further. He’s giving me his oxygen… Aww… Gross!… But kinda
sweet… Okay, it’s really sweet. Really romantic. At least hearing or reading
about it would be but to experience it… She grimaced as more of the spearmint
scented breath filled her mouth as she greedily sucked it in. I hate spearmint!
That’s the last time I buy him anything at the store with spearmint in it.
Wufei waited until the backs of Zechs and Noin disappeared behind the trees
before turning to the woman seated on the small park bench.
"Sally…"
"What do you want?" She asked sharply.
"To talk. What’s wrong?" Can’t you tell me? Tell me what you told
Noin. Just say it to my face, please Sally. He mentally begged.
"Wufei, I need to know exactly what we are." She turned away from
him gazing over the pond. "Where I stand with you."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You left." Those two abrupt words and the harsh tone hurt Noin
more than a mobile suit could. An accusation of betrayal lurked under the
surface slightly covering the raw pain she had caused him.
"I did." No use in denying it, he knew. She knew. Sally knew.
Wufei knew. The rest most likely knew by now, as well.
"You’re coming back?"
"I don’t think so…"
"Why not?"
"I stuck by your side Zechs. Throughout the whole war, even after you
had disappeared I knew you were still out there somewhere and I clung to that
and to you. But it’s over. The war. Your whole now, Zechs. You don’t need my
support anymore. You can get the same if not more support and love from
another. It’s time for me to let go."
"I’m whole because I do have you. I don’t want you to let go. I don’t
want another’s love. Your ‘clinging’ is the only thing that keeps me whole.
You’re my glue, Noin. If you let go then I fall apart." His blue eyes
begged with her as he stopped gazing down at her. "Don’t let go."
Noin wrinkled her nose as his words passed through her head. Glue? He
thinks of me as glue… Gross! At least he still wants me near him… But what will
he do if I don’t give in so easily. He can’t really expect me to go back with
him after a little talk does he?
She glanced up at those blue eyes her resolve slowly turning to mush. Do
this fast, Noin. Before you do cave in. "I can’t Zechs." His eyes
turned mournful as he raised a gloved hand pushing away her bangs.
"Are you sure?" He asked his face turning serious. No! Zechs!
Don’t let me do this! Stop me, knock some sense into me! Zechs, please!!!
Shut up! This is for the best. You’re his glue, alright. You’re making him
stick to the floor. You’re holding him back. You’re slowly rotting him away
from the inside out. I thought you cared for him. Prove it and let him go!
She nodded her head biting her lip to keep herself from crying out as he
removed his hand shooting her one last sorrow-filled glance before turning and
walking away. She stood there just watching as his posterior disappeared from
her view. Missing him already. She didn’t even notice when the tears started to
fall from her eyes or when her knees collapsed underneath her. She did notice
when the scream of fear, loss, frustration, and raw pain tore from her throat
rising above the clucking of the ducks and soft murmuring of the pedestrians
that strolled through the park.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When he finally released her she sucked in a deep breath her whole body
trembling slightly. When she eventually calmed down she leveled a glare at Duo.
"You, mister, have some explaining to do."
