Hi, I am a Civil War Reenactor with the 49th North Carolina troops reenacting group.
The first batttle of the civil war was in
Northern Virginia in a place called Bull
Run. It is also called the battle at Manassas. Confederate General Robert E. Lee and
Major General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson
defeated Union forces commanded
by Major General John Pope on August 28-30, 1862.
The second major battle was in Western Maryland also be a river and this battle was called Antietam.
The third major battle was the Battle at Gettysburg which was fought in Pennsylvania. You might know it as the bloodiest battle ever fought on American soil.
And the Civil War ended in 1865 with a sad surrender by
General Robert E. Lee to General U.S. Grant in
Appamatox Courthouse in Virginia.
