| Release To The Beat | ||||||||||||||||
| Hello to all and thank you for visiting the web site. My name is Kelli Wray, and below is some information about myself and Release To The Beat movement workshops for children and adults that started in October 2006 using the upstairs space at St Andrew & St David's, 164 Germain Street, Saint John, NB. Brochures are available with further details for each session, and contact me to be added to an email list for upcoming events and themes. Music and Dance are great passions of mine and it is a passion that I wish to share. The idea of Release To The Beat movement workshops ("Meditation in Movement" and "Kids Moovin' & Groovin'") is to invite every BODY, young and old, into a welcoming environment where you are able to release yourself to the beat of the music, get fit and have fun! A barefoot, soulful and playful experience where no steps are taught and no experience is required. Let the music be your guide and let your body go! Group Sessions also available. "MEDITATION IN MOVEMENT" is a 60 minute session of a unique collection of music designed to guide you on your own creative journey. Relax into the music and enjoy the freedom of the dance as the music escalates to higher levels! An exploration of the mind, body and soul through a medley of instrumental and multicultural songs destined to get you moving! Saturdays 10:30-11:30am, drop-in $6. "FRIDAY'S MOVE" is happening the 1st Friday of every month and similar to the above but in the evening! 6:30-7:30pm, drop-in $8. Contact me for further details. "KIDS MOOVIN' & GROOVIN''" is a fun and active experience for children age newborn to 5, and for moms + dads too! Although no steps are being taught, we are enjoying running, skipping, twirling, flying, crawling and boppin' to the beats in a safe and open environment while listening to classic children's songs. Wednesdays 10:30-11:00am, drop-in rate $2. Everyday I am learning, exploring and growing as an artist. I have taken workshops in ballroom and Latin dance, African, modern and belly dance, kundalini and kripalu yoga. I worked as an interpretive dancing busker in Ottawa's City Market, where I had the chance to meet and perform with talented instrumentalists like Jason Dye and flutist Thomas Brawn. I have also had the great opportunity to work with director/playwright Clyde A. Wray and choreograph and dance in two of his theatre productions. Another great privilege was collaborating with harpists, singer/songwriters Ardyth and Jennifer in "Your Too Special for Just Words," a night of music, dance and poetry. Saint John is a friendly community on the rise that welcomed my family and I in June 2006 with open arms. I have enjoyed performing at several festivals in the city and am very much looking forward to creating new dance pieces, and inviting others who enjoy music and dance to let go and let loose at Release To The Beat ongoing movement workshops.
